No - it is now not possible for us to finish anywhere near as low as 22nd.

Whilst obviously with teams taking points off each other its probaly already impossible for us to finish any lower than 8th or 9th.

Just for fun though i'll count the teams off as they can no longer catch us.

Surely a very significant afternoon for us in our return to the championship. A little more work to do, but we can almost fall over the line from this position.

Anyway this is the thread to take us all the way through to promotion and the title.

So after todays results Cheltenham are the first team that can no longer score more points than us.

Goodbye.........Cheltenham

LEICESTERS LOWEST LGE POSITION IS NOW..........23RD.

He will never get over this. I fully expect that i will be deducted points in the prediction lge, and relegation is now a certainty

Why not just say that the 23rd club can't now catch us - then it would need zero words of explanation and qualification.

Here is my spreadsheet. :)

Steven, you really do need to get out more

If results go our way and we carrying on winning/drawning, what is the earliest we can get promoted?

Impossible to say I would guess as some of our challengers have fixtures between them. Could be wrong, so expect a spreadsheet of some sort from Steven soon.

Over the last 10 years the average points for finishing 2nd has been 85, min 79, max 91.

Bearing in mind that 4 of the next 5 opponents are sniffing around at the play-off places, by 10 to 5 on Saturday March 21, when Colchester come to town, we could have a maximum by then of 89 points.

I would say that is probably the earliest 'Party Time' and we still have 3 more home 'Party Times' to follow after that!

My dream game would be Monday April 13th when we cannot be caught by MK Dons and are champions and, cherry on the cake, we beat Leeds and they cannot make the play-offs!

Despite another home draw both Crewe and Swindon can no longer catch the City. This means City can not be caught by 4 teams, so the relegation hurdle as been passed:icon_bigg. ( someone now reminds me that because teams have to play each other its not possible to finish anywhere near the bottom:icon_roll)
Ironically two teams in the bottom 4 still can catch us

Teams out of the reckoning

I don't think Brighton can catch us either... 43pts behind and only 42 up for grabs to them.

...and Hereford can only draw level on points with us (realising they would go above us if they turn round a 52 goal difference deficit....)

I don't think any of our rivals will average more than 2 points per game over the rest of the season (after all that is more than they have averaged so far).

That being the case we need 5 points from 11 to make the playoffs and only 10 or 11 more points to secure automatic promotion.

Points total if they all achieved 2 points per game over the remainder of the season:

Foxes (currently 75, only 1 point per game would take them to 86 pts)
MK Dons 90 points
Posh 85 points
Millwall 84 points
Oldham 80 points
Scunthorpe 80 points
Leeds 79 pts
Tranmere 76 pts
Stockport 75 pts

We should be more focused on next season than this season (as fans, not the players or management), although we have not crossed the finish line just yet.

Interesting reading. Hope it is not as close as that, my nerves will be shredded. :icon_bigg
