what about Macauley? hes been a revealation

sorry forgot about Mac, he has been tremendous this season. however i do believe the current squad is not capable of promotion this season or next. and i am right as the table does not lie. we are too inconsitant with these players and certainly need strengthening all over the park. Mike i was not talking about just saturdays performance, i was talking about season long. saturday was quite good but regardless of where they are the league i felt we should have beaten them. too many missed opportunities and that is why this team isnt good enough.

I am sure MM is making plans as we speak...

But it is unfair to say all season as we now have extra players and the MM factor, even before he puts the money in!
This is a different team to last November and I think this team can compete and I would keep many of them next season for a promotion push, including Henderson as first choice keeper, as he has really improved a lot over the last month or so.

i would be rid of

maybury
nissa
porter- keep him but not good enough to get us up
hughes- dont get me started
johnson- only started playing when his job was under threat
hume- is not going to score enough goals

thats 6 of saturdays starters

Elvis- just not good enough
Kenton- same
steraman- god knows whats happening

they are all just too inconsitant for a realistic promotion push. as much as i love hume and think hes the best out of all mentioned, iot is a fact that he is not a great goal scorer.

I'd keep Hume and Stearman if nothing else then as squad players. But the all the others can go.

Nissa will be gone in the summer anyway as he's out of contact.

Hume has played most of his carrer as an attacking midfielder and the way he plays suggests that as he drops deep, he may not score too many goals, but as I have said for ages play him as the attacking midfielder behind two strikers, if we can bring a couple of forwards in part of our midfield problem would be solved IMO.

goes back to the good old diamond formation, its the future!!

i definatly agree with that. however i just dont think kelly has the pedigree as a manger to try such a formation. it would be a great way to play.

it's revealing that our 5 unbeaten games have brought only 2 goals from strikers - both in 1 game

One thing dissappointed me on Saturday was in the 2nd half when they attacked us we had no method for a quick counter as all were defending leaving Hume against 2 defenders most of the time up front and although he has a prodigeous leap for a small man he isnt strong enough to hold off two men the horse might but he was always back helping out.
Performance in the 1st half was shall we say adequate but considerably better in the second but we still leave a lot to be desired going forward with not too many options up front as our so called wide men are never very wide theres a lot of space on both wings to be utilised but we still try to condense the play.

definitely, we lack creativity and options going forward. its is as much about possitioning as anything, the wide men are not wide or pushed up enough and we usually only have 1 striker in a forward possition. this is why we will not go up with this squad, lack of goals consistently.

That was the difference against Cov in the first half, both wingers played as wingers and stayed out wide.
