Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded spring/summer 2019 rumours thread.

If they've met the asking price how have we caved?

It's possible the club think this is a good thing.

Only if it’s a full cash deal

If it’s still 70 million with a load of stupid add ons then we’ve folded like a pack of cards, and been arse-jacked in the process

Evans, Morgan, Soyuncu, Benkovic - risks everywhere you look

If, and it's a big if, we receive our asking price of £85m plus add ons up to £90m, then we've done exceptionally well. It's a cracking deal for the club overall.

The problem is that he's going to a rival. The best possible outcome if a fee has been agreed would be for Man City to weigh in, match the offer, and Maguire goes there instead.

What is most important is how we invest the proceeds. If it's true that the club don't need to sell, then that should be a big budget boost. We should use it to acquire 2-3 top class players before the window closes. If we don't, it has to go down as a bad window.

£90m would be a decent deal for Maguire. He's good but not THAT good, however he's still England's and our number one CB. I'd hope we plan on replacing him but we'll likely have to pay through the arsehole for someone who isn't as good.

Agree. I think we should be in for 2 players immediately and secure them by paying top dollar.

I didn't think you rated him that highly?

because we could find someone as good defensively for probably 30m.
No. We really, really couldn't. Not even close. Unfortunately he's irreplaceable for us because players as good as him won't want to come to Leicester (unless of course, we can unearth another hidden gem but the odds of this are longer than a BN bet coming in), like it or not. If he goes, we will be weaker as a unit, full stop. We can buy a solid defensive replacement but it will probably cost us upwards of £50m and they won't give us the forward play and passing of Maguire.

It's simply bad news if he goes, regardless of how much we get for him.

I don't read it as a deal in place, I take it as it said - Maguire's head's not in the right place to play. It's ominous though, I reckon it indicates an increased offer will be made.

Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed to lose a quality player.

I'm especially annoyed that this is the 4th year in a row where we have lost a key player and I find it very unlikely we don't see the same for the forseeable future (the likes of Maddison, Ricardo, Chilwell, Youri, Hamza next summer). The precedent is set now.

I'd love to see the club draw a line in the sand.

As for Harry, while I do believe he's a classy player I think there are sexy parts of his game that cover up some of his shortcomings. I worry for him they will be exposed at United. They are certainly going to need Matic or Mctominay to have good seasons. I guess I think we can tighten up defensively without Maguire and I am a philistine who believes a back four should be measured by how many goals they concede.

I'd sooner have Bob Huth back there ;)

if he goes it is a huge loss I also believe he will be exposed more defensively at Utd. we have fantastic left and right backs with pace!! something Utd lack at present.

Can't blame him for being after more money and can't blame the club for wanting to cash in. We're in a position that several of our players should have been subject to big offers this summer. If we lose just one and have brought in someone of Youri's quality that's fine by me. If we'd lost a handful I'd be disappointed but I don't get the gloom on this one.

good point I really think we can overtake them this season.
