If they've met the asking price how have we caved?
It's possible the club think this is a good thing.
If, and it's a big if, we receive our asking price of £85m plus add ons up to £90m, then we've done exceptionally well. It's a cracking deal for the club overall.
The problem is that he's going to a rival. The best possible outcome if a fee has been agreed would be for Man City to weigh in, match the offer, and Maguire goes there instead.
What is most important is how we invest the proceeds. If it's true that the club don't need to sell, then that should be a big budget boost. We should use it to acquire 2-3 top class players before the window closes. If we don't, it has to go down as a bad window.

No. We really, really couldn't. Not even close. Unfortunately he's irreplaceable for us because players as good as him won't want to come to Leicester (unless of course, we can unearth another hidden gem but the odds of this are longer than a BN bet coming in), like it or not. If he goes, we will be weaker as a unit, full stop. We can buy a solid defensive replacement but it will probably cost us upwards of £50m and they won't give us the forward play and passing of Maguire.because we could find someone as good defensively for probably 30m.
If that's true, it'll have very little to do with the departure of Maguire. He saved us far, far more goals than he ever cost us.I genuinely believe we will concede less goals this season than last.
I'm not ****ing impressed if the decision to leave him out of the squad isn't ours.

Behind Chilwell, Perreira and Evans?I don't. I think he's the fourth best defender in our first choice team.
However, he has qualities that certain other clubs desperately need.
good point I really think we can overtake them this season. Can't blame him for being after more money and can't blame the club for wanting to cash in. We're in a position that several of our players should have been subject to big offers this summer. If we lose just one and have brought in someone of Youri's quality that's fine by me. If we'd lost a handful I'd be disappointed but I don't get the gloom on this one.
