Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2018 rumours thread.

Anyone know what's happening with Evans? Sounded like it was very close before, just trying to sort the agent fees. Now it's gone silent. Have we refused to pay the agent's fee and walked away?

Even though part of me likes that we (and others) are starting to say no to the ridiculous agent costs, Jonny Evans for £7m when we bid over 20m a year ago is still a decent deal.

To answer my own question, The Mirror are reporting we've now opened talks with Jonny Evans.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-open-talks-jonny-evans-12651521

Although its a very conflicted article. Headline says he has his heart set on a move to Man City. Article says he's given up hope of a move to Man City and has now moved into talks with us. And then at the end of the article it has a poll about where Jonny Evans will play next season and we're not even one of the options!

But hopefully this one gets done.

Would prefer us to look at younger players for the future, but can't argue with that money..

Just saying: but if the rumours that are kicking around prove true - i quite like the look of the balance of our new side. With Albrighton, Iborra, Silva, Diabate, Okazaki, Dragovic, Simpson, Choudhury, Barnes, Knight, Thomas to back them up....
The fact that we'd have 7 players who could well knock on the door of the England squad, for me, would be a massive bonus

Butland

Pereira Evans Maguire Chilwell

Ndidi Maddison

Roberts Iheanacho Gray

Vardy

I think you're being overly-optimistic there mate.

Can't have all young players though and Evans has a good experience and good leadership. Will help young players like Chilwell and Maguire to develop.

£3m is an absolute snip. Complete no brainer to get him in at that price, I think he can do a good job for us.

John Percy says deal could be announced this week.

Imagine Evans would be ahead of Morgan, so Maguire switches to RCB, Evans left-sided so provides more support and leadership for Chilwell.

I'm liking the looks of our transfer policy/the players we're going after this summer.

Maddison is a 10 bud, he'd be competing with Nacho

Slimani just posted a video of him driving past Sporting's stadium with the caption #home

Evans deal is ****ing ace if true.

This 100% - an absolute bargain at £3m for someone with his amount of PL and international experience.

Him and Maguire would be a very good CB pairing for most PL teams!

Also seems to chip in with a few goals which is something we are severely lacking from set plays etc so can't see how this can be anything other than a really good signing.

If you consider that Benalouane cost approximately double this three years ago when the market was nowhere near where it is now, you’ve got to consider this a good deal.

And if this pushes Benny further out the door, happy days.
