Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2022 rumours thread

Anyone who thinks we should sell Maddison is mental.

He's consistently out performing, in terms of goals and assists, others who get put in the same category as him.

That cross yesterday was with his supposed week foot - the kid is one of the most talented players to play for us imo.

It’s all about contract status now as I’ve said a few times.

I think the club would happily see Kasper, Evans and Vardy play out their 2023 contracts. Same with Albrighton in 2024.

They simply can’t/shouldn’t let that happen with Soyuncu, Tielemans and Perez who either sign (for various reasons they aren’t) or we move them on. Amartey is in this bucket too.

By the same token you have Maddison, Praet, Nacho and Ndidi expiring in 2024 and I’ve a feeling getting pen to paper on those will be difficult. So if you don’t move them on this summer you’ve got a carbon copy of the Tielemans/Soyuncu issue.

The club probably knows Maddison won’t sign a new deal (why would he?) and so have floated the story to see what’s on offer.

Praet is an interesting one.

Does he have a role here if Tielemans goes?

Part of me feels like why he's not made more impact here was largely because we already had Tielemans, and Praet played a similar role but not as well and didn't fit into the side elsewhere.

It's possible Graz.

There was criticism of him as he appeared to slow up play when he was on the field, but this may because he was playing out of position or summat?

Hmmm:
  • Wanking on a bus
  • Farting in a lift
  • Shitting in a car
  • Homer's shenanigans
Difficult to put them in any order really.

If Tilemans leaves we should try and get Eriksen on a freebie or Gallagher from Chelsea (currently on loan at Palace)

Harsh.

Selhurst Park always sounds like one of, if not, the best home atmosphere in the PL.

It is

But that is because the club actually gives a **** and engages with the fans in a grown up manner about these things.

Leicester aren't interested in creating a decent atmosphere. They want everybody to clap along like good little children and then **** off immediately after the final whistle, hence the ear splitting, horrendous music the second the final whistle blows.

I have no idea how Crystal Palace engages with its fans. I will say this though, over the past decade - where we have enjoyed highs like, you know, winning the Premier League and FA Cup, our fans have largely become more bitter and resentful and ****ing silent. Crystal Palace meanwhile creates an atmosphere that is not only helpful to their team but must make their fans proud.

Simple question, why can't we?

As I've said before, the main reason why the atmosphere at the KP isn't good is because it's largely full of miserable old gits like me.

There is very little churn of supporters so younger and more enthusiastic ones don't get in.

And then when there are opportunities for these supporters to get in, like this Thursday, the club up the ticket prices and refuse to allow vocal fans to have a specific section of the ground.

In short, we need less of the Keith Vaz's of this world and more of the sort of people he likes to socialise with. Allegedly.
