IIRC the 1976 close season was also becalmed …. and very hot. Bloomfieldd’s pipeline of London players had dried up, and I’m pretty sure the same team that finished the 75-76 season started the opener for 76=77.

Quick check reveals that he signed a four year contract two years ago.
>99% likelihood that his agent is trying to get him a new deal.
Personally, I don't rate him so wouldn't be offering a new deal and would be open to moving him on.
Chances of West Ham being genuinely interested is <1%.
