2. BR gives approval to the signing.
3. Club sign player.
4. BR talks up players talent but warns fans need to be patient and not expect much until his second season.
5. BR immediately throws Soumare on in Community Shield and first few PL matches.
6. Soumare fails to immediately adapt to PL pace and BRs tactical expectations.
7. BR immediately loses patience with Soumare including making public statements picking on aspects of his game.

This isn't really how it happened though. He didn't just 'not adapt' he couldn't do the most basic of things. He couldn't pass a ball more than two yards, he couldn't tackle without fouling and he couldn't work out where he was meant to be 90% of the time.
Rather than this being the cause of his anguish or anxiety, vice versa is far more likely. If he is struggling to adapt to life away from 'home' no amount of slogging the poor ****er no matter how useless he's been will help that.
We don't see the training games that BR does. Maybe he did think Soumare might be one for the future but now, having seen him play and train, doesn't think he'll ever be up to scratch.
Whether he turns into a decent midfielder in the French league is yet to be seen but he sure as shit isn't one in the Premier League. The signing made sense on paper so I'm not criticising that, he just hasn't got the right attributes or isn't, mentally, in the right place to succeed in this league right now. Get rid, move on.

West Ham were truly terrible today. Even then, they had a perfectly good goal disallowed, hit the post, hit the bar, had one cleared off the line and then had a shit penalty saved. They should have rolled Forest over easily.

It's not just them. I had 5live on earlier today and they were banging on about Forest's glory days but said sweet **** all about last season or even who the manager is now. I don't mind fans banging on about the past much as I'll do the same when we totally go to shit. but from the way the pundits go on you'd think they were ousted from the league unfairly and not as a result of being shit at the time.
If Fofana saw Thomas Tuchel completely lose his shit today – I wonder if he thinks moving to Chelsea will give him the sort of manager he might enjoy working with?
