Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded winter 2020/21 rumours thread

Too much to hope its us?

Sorry, ignore this click bait shite from SSN.

I hadn't read the Costa part in the feed before posting - it says "however those inquiries have now come to an end with Costa seeking a longer deal" - so it's no one basically.

We’ve got so many games coming up, assuming we continue to advance in cups, that everyone will get games. He’s versatile too, can play both fullback positions and in midfield.

I get that....just arsenal's fixtures aren't too different and they're shit. If he's going to be wanting games then west brom would be a better shout for him.

Think that’s a pretty shrewd bit of business.
I agree. There is a decent player there, especially as a reserve. Arsenal aren't exactly clever in their transfer policy; they let their best goalkeeper by a country Mike go to Villa.

Chalobah ffs

I really don't get the benefit of this... I'd rather keep Hamza.

The only thing I'm thinking is that it's not clear whether Hamza to Newcastle would be permanent.

If it is, and we can get a fee for him (in this market I'd say he's worth £8m or so) then maybe that gives us the funds to get another deal done today that we're trying to push through, and Chalobah is just an extra body to provide additional cover as 3rd choice defensive mid but we're nervous to go without that backup to Ndidi and Mendy given injury problems.

Remember this time last year?

We wanted to send Benkovic out on loan, but we thought that would leave us short in defence, so we wouldn't let him go until we got someone to fill his space in the squad. That's why we signed Bennett.

I think the same thing is happening here. We want to give Choudhury some game time in the Premier League before making a decision on his future. So we need to replace him with someone who can do a job if required.

Yeah that's the only way I can see it - but i don't think we should be doing that move unless we're also bringing in the extra attacking midfielder.

At the moment with Praet and Ndidi injured, Hamza is our only available CM that isn't in the starting lineup.

He's going to be needed - and I think Chalobah is a worse player, so the move would weaken us.

I'm worried it's too much of a repeat of the Bennett situation, where we hoped not to use him and then had to watch him stink the place out a lot.

So instead of saying he's confident we will bring in another midfielder to replace Praet and that it would be good for the squad, Brendan should have said we're bringing in another benchwarmer who will make an absolute tit of himself when he does get the chance to play?

AMN would get games with us in the same way that Praet and Mendy have. From what i've seen he's mobile and good on the ball without being spectacular. I seem to remember last season / season before he was better higher up the pitch than he is at right or left back.

Now Rodgers says it's 50/50 whether we even sign anyone. His shady politician-like approach to the media really gets on my nerves.

AMN would make sense for us but don't think it's the best option for the player or arsenal.

Getting Chalobah to let Hamza go to Newcastle makes **** all sense other than Newcastle and Hamza will benefit.

Although I don't rate Chalobah as a loan signing one bit, he is definitely a better player than Choudhury.

BR doesn't trust Choudhury. Neither does any City fan blessed with the gift of sight.

Chalobah is injury prone and very mediocre but I'd much rather have him in the side.
