So what do you want to know, and can you pay more than the NOW? :)

I'm skint. I'll wait until you have Ruperts money and I'll invest 70 or 80p in a copy of that wretched rag for myself :icon_lol:

There are 4 reasons why Fryatt will never be up the standard worthy of the sort of deluded praise he's receiving in this thread.

1. Confidence. If scoring 30 goals in a season doesn't make him confident, what will? NP said after the game yesterday that he hoped his goals today would give him some much needed confidence. He's far too precious and unable to mentally deal with expectation. As soon as the going gets tough next season, watch his bottle drain away.

2. Pace. He hasn't got any over 5 yards or 50 yards. He's always been easily outpaced by lumbering Championship defenders. He may have a quick mind, but his feet don't follow. To suggest otherwise is beyond any sense of reality. He's very slow - end of story.

3. Lazy. He disappears from games routinely. He can't be bothered to chase down his defenders. He doesn't cover anywhere near enough ground over a game. He should be Howards legs, but he doesn't deliver. The only time he's done it properly was in his first few matches after signing for us.

4. Misses. I expect any striker to miss chances. It's part of the job. However, this team is set up for Fryatt to score goals. He's a very lucky boy as he gets several chances every game. Show me a compilation of his 30 goals this season and I'll show you a compilation of 60 sitters missed. Again this is about bottle and concentration - which he lacks.

If we could swap him for Cox or Beckford or Lambert, I'd do it like a shot. They have all demonstrated more potential than Fryatt this season and have done so from far fewer chances.

Fcuk potential, I will take a forward any day who does feck all, all game but comes good for a second and scores. He is there to score goals not fancy footwork etc that comes as a bonus.

So someone who's scored 31 goals in this league (Fryatt) isn't good enough but someone who's scored 28 in the same league (Cox) is?

Not that i'm disagreeing with your point in general, but Fryatt has scored 27 in the league (I think) 31 is his all competitions total.

I wouldn't just pick up on that part, most of his port was bollocks. One thing Fryatt does every game without fail is chase down defenders, but some have their hate tinted goggles on, bloody anti-mongies they are.

Agreed. I'm not saying Cox wouldn't be a good signing for us, he certainly has more pace than Fryatt.I just can't understand how you can dismiss Fryatt as only good enough for this league and then say someone who's never proved himself at any other level than this is better.

Coy?

What a very saccharine word :)

Coy is the proper word.

When Matty first arrived he scored goals at Championship level. This was followed by injury. Last season he was a typical Leicester player. He had his confidence damaged by Martin Allen and Ian Holloway was unable to repair it.
Like most strikers he needs service. He scored goals when Lloyd Dyer was breaking down defences. When Dyer went off form Mark Davies provided the chances. When Davies left the chances dried up. Recently with the warmer weather Dyer has been playing well and so has Fryatt.
While Tunchev has been my favourite player he has missed half the season. Therefore with all due respect to Howard my choice of player of the season is Matty Fryatt.
Words of praise too for Andy King and Michael Morrison . At the start of the season I would never have believed King would keep experienced players like Kishishev and Weso out of the side. Last season Michael Morrison was playing non-league. On Monday he was preferred to Edworthy and did a good job playing out of position against one of the best young wingers in the division. Well done to both of them.

Well done this season Matty! Now let's see how you do next season. 31 goals in any league is an achievement for any player in any league. Hopefully he will gain confidence and have a good season next term.

Off topic a bit, but if you have the genetic disorder phenylketonuria don't consume products that contain aspartame. Also in large quantities it is a laxative.

I know, I over indulged on sugar free polos once, never again!

On another point, after last season I don't think Fryatt is the only one who needs to prove himself at Championship level, at least in a City shirt. All those who took us down need to prove they can cut it this time, and even Pearson needs to prove he can manage at the next level for more than the few games he had at Southampton
