I've alwys been a Matty Fryatt fan, and therefore classed by some here as a Blue Mongie, like I don't know what I'm talking about. Well, maybe that's true.

But what I see in Fryatt is an exceptional acceleration technique, and really fast feet, and great positional play, and footballing intelligence.

He has fast twitch muscle. It's good when matched with skill. And yes, he does zone out sometimes, and some of you think he's lazy. But it's taken a long time for this forum to accept Steve Howard. I'll be happy when you see the skill of Matty Fryatt, and appreciate it for what it is. He's pretty good.

What exactly is that? Fryatt lacks pace, if he didn't he would be a prolific goalscorer at a higher lever than League One.

E: As this is the appreciation thread: congratulations on a fantastic season, Matty.

Next season will be the acid test as for now.......well done

Believe me anyone who thinks Matty is rubbish has never played football himself. He has good control great vision good feet (both) and will score goals next season provided he gets decent service Well done Matty lets hope you stay at the Walkers (because your goals/talent will attract vultures). As much as Howard has played well id prefer a younger mobile more skillful partner for him

Fryatt doesn't lack pace. He lacks the kind of screaming pace Lloyd Dyer or Max Gradel has. He can't do 100, or even 50 metres. But that's not the whole story about pace. Pace is sometimes the ability to go from zero to 100mph within 10 metres , and that's what he has, when he switches his head on. He turns more rapidly than any other footballer in the squad (except Gradel), and switches feet like it's no problem.

Moreover, he's a VERY clever little footballing bunny. Except, of course, when he's in the casino... :)

In which context, he's a very silly little boy :)

But then, so are many footballers. I could tell you a few stories.........

:)

Fryatt has had many chances to prove himself at Championship level and he hasn't made it so far - no doubt he'll get many more in the future and we'll just have to wait and see how he gets on. Hopefully this season has worked wonders for his confidence which was nonexistent last year.

Many chances? Playing devil's advocate has he actually had a FULL season in the CCC? One half season in a struggling side, and then an injury-hit season where when he did play it was for 10-20 mins here or there(most of the time) and often out wide instead of upfront.

Will he be good enough? Til I've seen him play a full season, in a side that isn't in a relegation-haunted mindset I'll wait to pass judgement.

Strikers need service, and even though it is a lower league, this season he has been getting that, whereas the last few years here the 'support' for the forward line has been anonymous to the extent of being laughable.

You're right, but when he did get the chance he just had no confidence in front of goal, and you can't blame all of that on the service.

Let's just say it's time for Fryatt to really prove what he's made of next season; if he makes it, I'll be the first to sing his praises.

Not much at all, the thing is it's so visible for a striker. A striker without confidence doesn't score many goals.

What I'm worried about (can I be worried a night like this or will I upset Innocent?:)) is how we will react to, quite frankly, losing again. We can't expect to fight for top 2 promotion spots.
We've been used to beat very average sides, often without playing our best. Now confidence will naturally drop when we lose, the question is how Pearson, Milan, the players and the fans will react to that.

Someone said in another thread, if the bad run we've had recently had been in September, Pearson would have been sacked and that would have changed our situation massively.
My point is: we need to get off to a good start.:)

Well done Matty, thanks for giving me my potentially best nights sleep in 5 years.

Night all, I ****ing love Leicester City, but now im proud once more.

Remember the heady days of Gareth Williams and Stephen Hughes? They defined laughable! :081::081::081:
