****ing hotels which take you money upfront when you book, then when you get to reception insist you haven't paid and make you pay again. Then when you try to complain they don't answer the phone.

Strong words have been written on a webform, suggesting they ring me pretty quick and that a simple refund will not be seen as sufficient recompense for my embarrassment and their incompetency.

Advertising creme eggs, when there is well over 3 months to go to Easter.

What's wrong with that? It makes sense, they're bound to sell more at Easter anyway, what with them being eggs

Which reminds me I need to look for theatre hotel deals.

You've just missed the £9 a night Travelodge sale.

Me and Mrs Jeff have booked four nights in London in April for less than £60. That's the kind of thing you can do when you pay in advance (but I'll print out my receipt to take with me just in case they don't believe I've paid...)

I have several £9 rooms booked for later in the year but last night wasn't a Travelodge. I took the print out with me but it didn't make any difference. It was a case of paying up or coming home again. The ****ers had better ring me soon.

Coat hangers, the most irritating invention ever when you've just got up after a night out. You can't really think straight & just want to put a shirt on without having to take this hellish piece of plastic out of it and then pick it up from the other side of the room because I've become that pissed off with it that I've launched it at the wall, joy. :bang:

They would not have gotten me out of there and I wouldn't have given them another cent.
I'd have just settled down for the night in the reception. Leave them call the cops if they want, it's a civil matter, so as long as there's no breach of the peace there's nothing they could do except generate bad publicity.

Small Claims court :)

Wasn't it you who had problems with a hotel last year as well Boc?

You don't seriously expect me to remember anything that happened last year?

I seem to rmember Boc gloating about compenstaion he has received form hotels recently, perhaps it's their way of ruining his new year (until they give him further compo of course).

"Dear Sir

"Are you going to respond to my complaint? Or would you prefer that I pop back to the hotel and make the kind of fuss that I should have made in the first place when your receptionist charged me again for the room that I told him I had already paid for?

"Either way, you owe me".

You don't owe them the courtesy of a polite complaint Boc. Just sue them, it's just a simple County Court form. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it online. Be sure not to forget to mention the distress and embarrassment they've caused you as well.

With a polite complaint, I'm going to get 100% of what I've paid back. Taking them to the Small Claims Court, I'm still going to have to pay them what they are due.
