Karl Wallinger of The Waterboys, dies aged 66.
I really liked his stuff when he was in World Party (great, but fairly unknown stuff).

So many people that we grew up listening to are going.

I comfort myself with the fact they left behind some great stuff to remember them by.

As obscure as they get & as irrelevant as music itself becomes, there'll always be someone, somewhere, sometime that discovers a piece of work that entertains, amazes or inspires them. That's a decent legacy I reckon.

All I'm going to leave behind is a stain on the carpet for the council to deal with.

I finally getting back to listening to the 'Goodbye Jumbo' for the first time in a while.
When I got the LP, I loved the singles but the rest was a little plain. Anyhow, just listening to 'Is It Like Today?' and 'Ship Of Fools', they have totally put me in a fine fine place.

Amazing work. Thank you Karl.

Ok, 'Is It Like Today?' was on the 'Bang' LP and 'Ship Of Fools' was on 'Private Revolution'.
'Way Down Now' was on 'Goodbye Jumbo'.

Still brilliant stuff.

Joe Kinnear. Age of 77.

You don't get characters like him managing top-flight teams nowadays. Unfortunately.

Genuinely thought he died years ago. Did he have a heart attack or something a while back?

Reckon he had a few if memory serves. But as I'm also in the camp of thinking he was already dead he probably hasn't....
