They're talking about us

Maybe a good thing. Fresh start. The thought of being stuck with a £110k p/w 30 year old Vardy in the Championship with nobody wanting to take him off our hands....

That was my biggest concern about relegation so hopefully that's true and we won't be well and truly in the financial shitter!

The main reason we need to stay up really.

Other than that Barnsley away is a decent day out.

I also read a few months back that the players with the big contracts would get a 15% cut if there was no Champions League footie next year.

Should be enough to make them look for new employment anyway. Which, if they do take us down, is probably for the best for all parties involved.
Who in their right minds will offer Vardy et al £60k pw?

Unless we bounce straight back up, I think that we could be in a bit of a mess if we go down.

Not entirely about us. But we're mentioned. Because we won the Premier League. And we'll forever be included in analysis of title winners. Still unbelievable.

The Vardy bit is interesting.

It was. For me, it was how much didn't tackling Mendy didn't do. His running and interceptions are up there with the best but not his tackling - I wonder why. Perhaps he simply doesn't win them as a rule.

The main thing I took from it though was that our perceptions are often not borne out by the stats. No way would I have said Vardy was running as much as last season, though it's clear he's not getting the chances he was.

He created a lot for himself by controlling and taking the ball away from defenders. This season he either fails to control the ball or runs into the corner. Theres more to it than the stats suggest. That chance from a couple of yards against Bumley would have been a goal last season yet this season it wasn't even a shot.

Interesting to see that those that have replaced Kante have actually matched or bettered his energy levels too....

There's just not as much end product this season. The tackles are well down, the pass success rate is well down, the number of chances are well down, dribbling success rate well down etc...

Looking at that Mendy stat again, it must be wrong. Around 270 minutes per tackle? That's once every 3 games! Does he actively avoid tackling? Or is he simply not good at it? Or both?

They've all clearly got the stamina of Kante. Maybe the coaches should get their ****ing arses in gear and teach them to read the game better! Have to say Ndidi does have similarities with Kante. He's quick and has that long reaching tackle, he's also got the pace to bring the ball away after winning it... got high hopes for him being able to take over where N'Golo left off once he settles in properly! He's also good passing ability and vision and good shooting ability! Think we've got a top player there. The question is whether Drinkwater can recapture form or if we will need to replace him. He has been rubbish this year, regularly gets dispossessed. We need someone with a bit of creativity in that role now that teams sit back against us more.
