The carpet will absorb some of the downward pressure your placing on the scales, making you appear lighter than you really are, so do it on a solid floor porky. :icon_razz

as far as i know there is no correct answer to this, it's still being discussed it's just an optical illusion, due to objects on the horizan seeming bigger due to the prespective of where you are looking.
