Lovely place full of lovely people, I'm quite shocked...

The shooting of a local guy Mark Duggan seems to be the incident that sparked the trouble

One witness said the victim was an ‘elder’ from the Broadwater Farm Estate, a short distance away.

The phrase is used to describe people who are well known and respected by residents. Broadwater Farm was the scene of violent riots that led to the death of Pc Keith Blakelock in 1985.

One source said: ‘We can only hope that the backlash from the community is not severe – it is effectively a death in custody.’

The Guardian are noe reporting that the bullet lodged in the policeman's radio is police issue. There's more to this than first impressions...

Reports that it's kicking off tonight in Enfield - about 4 miles away from the problems last night.

Tried to get something going in Kew, but no takers yet.

How do you know this? Where is your source?

It was mentioned on R4 this morning that this was being speculated.

It does seem to me that the police do know that something happened which should not have happened. I don't think it will be long before we are told the reason for their apparent embarrassment.
