Anybody who considers a sportsman a hero should wake up.

OK, time for a re-phrase.

You can still be a sportsman and a hero, but IMO you shouldn't be a hero because of your sporting achievements.

What Hunt did was above and beyond anything that is required of a sportsman, he tapped into his "human" side to do that.

IMO a hero is somebody who will put their life at risk in order to help another human being in a time of great need.

Then there is a further distinction between those who walk away afterwards without craving attention and those who do the media luvvy bit with interviews on TV and in the press saying just how wonderful they were.

Exactly, a hero doesn't go in with the intention of coming out covered in glory or gaining a medal.
