It's supposed to be proof read by two people - the journalist and a sub-editor. It still amazes me how many mistakes get through when the copy is checked by two people.

If Pearson goes out and spends gob loads of cash on someone I don't rate, I'll be the first to question it. Should he, for example, give a 3 year, 30,000 a week contract to a 35 year old c**t (ring any bells), I'll probably go spare.

I'm not giving Pearson a free pass, but I'll say this, he's given me very little reason to question his judgment in players thus far, so if he wants to throw a couple of quid at a local product/project, fine with me.

In this instance, he's given a piddling one year contract to a player none of us have seen play. It's a speculative punt, but a very low risk one. To pick fault with this signing, in particular, seems somewhat negative and pointless.
