He's been offered a contract wherever it is that he's on loan according to the article.
He's done well at Darlington and the fans like him.

Do they have Asian owners to appease?
Their owner is called Raj Singh.
It was mentioned repeatedly when he signed from Redditch that he's originally from Leicester.Darlington I know but would you want to go there?
Not sure where he comes from, I thought he was a local lad so I guess for him somewhere not far too away would be better which is why I mentioned Lincoln.
What type of Asian is that then? Chinese?

You mean by confusing the Thais by just calling him Asian, instead of Indian? Would this kind of stupid geographically irrelevant comment work elsewhere?
"Hey we want to get some big money German investors in, why don't we buy a player from the Faroe Islands, it's all Europe innit".
FFS
Don't be a cock and don't put words in my mouth. I clearly didn't say the plan was to kid the Thais.
I think the ethnic make up of Leicester was a lot of the reason the investment has come on board in the way it is and anything to raise the profile in terms of asian players would have been seen as a good thing whether he played or not.
What happened to that Leon Crncic bloke? is he still with us?
But Asia is a fecking huge continent, why would an Indian player be marketable in Thailand? Or Japan? Or Russia? I don't understand?
Who cares, they all eat dogs anyway.
Yes. Definitely. Rumour has it we also bought a set of china plates for the same reason.

I'm going Blue Maniac on this thread.
China's in Asia.What?
It's an odd one. Verma's ancestors once went to Asia, therefore Pearson signing him must be because Milan's trying to sell the club to Asians? Seems unlikely.I know that and you know that. I'm saying that was my reading of the decision made.
By having a non league player sign up and sit in our reserves?MM is a businessman and he bought the club as a business. He was seeking any opportunity to make us stand out from the clubs around us and to generate publicity and any angle to make us more saleable.
We didn't buy him, he was on loan. How did that make us more marketable to Asians?A classic example was the bizarre decision to buy Marco Ferreira.
I think it's easy to understand how someone could do that.I resent your linking my post in this thread to the ignorant, xenophobic Yuki Abe chants and frankly I expected better from you.
I didn't mean to insinuate that you're xenophobic FGTG, I just think your theory, as BLue Maniac has pointed out, is very far-fetched and I think you've read far too much into the signing of Verma.

Not necessarily. As pointed out Mandaric was a shrew businessman (at times). It may be more than coincidence that City sign an Indian footballer when it is considered that Leicester, as a city, has a huge Indian population. Perhaps an attempt to bolster shirt sales/gate reciepts at home.
