We've got other areas that we could spend that kind of money on first. Right back especially. A centre back too if Tunchev goes without another pre-season.

When Waggy goes we'll still Have Fryatt, Kermit, Gallagher, Howard, N'Guessan.... and DJ. The first three of which are all easily good enough (as strikers) for this division.

I don't see why people expect us to sign him if Sunderland go down. Waggy has proved that he is capable in this division so Bruce may see him as a viable replacement for the potential loss of another striker(s). ie he'd lose bent for £Xmillion but has Waggy in reserve for nowt.

We need to get out of the mindset of players being "good enough". If you have players who are "good enough" for the Championship you stay in the Championship. You only get promotion with players who are too good for the Championship.

Waghorn was not an automatic selection when Matty was playing. Since the Fryatt injury Waghorn has flourished. What I am not sure of is whether this is the natural progress of a talented youngster or because the one up front suits Waghorn.

If I was Steve Bruce I would be delighted to see Waghorn given such responsibility and handling it so well. The odds must be that we will reach the play-offs and Bruce must be even more pleased at Waghorn being "bloodied" in such high pressure games.

.

Daily Star: Martyn Waghorn has told Sunderland to keep him or else let him make his loan spell at Leicester permanent.

Waggy aint going to force his way into the Sunderland first team anytime soon , he struggled to get in ours initially, my feeling is we could sign him if he tells Bruce he wants move. Its not going to be silly money and it will give Milan some brownie points which he thrives on

He's a lifelong Sunderland fan, I can't see him requesting a transfer tbh.

Sunderland will want too much for him and we wont be able to afford it. Could possibly loan him again next season though?

he'll go back and have a crack at the first team, if he only gets on the bench then he'll look to move to us...i reckon

I can't see us getting him permanent to be honest, as people have said he is a Sunderland fan and isn't going to request a move and also he has been very impressive so it is unlikely that they are going to sell a young prospect.

Yea but Middlesbrough is a shit hole.

Can you explain to me why the hell that would make any difference?

Peter Shilton was a lifelong city fan but he still requested a transfer and ****ed off to Stoke.

agreed. Loyalty is worth about as much as 50 marbles now a days.
the only major factors over whether he moves to us or not are (1) whether Steve Bruce lets him and (2) whether we can afford him.

and to be honest, i reckon it's no to both.

Shilton went for money though, didn't he? I can't imagine we can offer Waghorn much more than what he's getting paid at Sunderland.

Bruce on SSN talking about Sunderland players out on loan. Mentioned Waghorn (and someone else) that had been doing particular well, and will be back in the fold for them next season.

I could say 1 of 2 things from that. 1) MW has a future at Sunderland, or 2) SB is attempting to bump up the price (ala Roy Keane with MF)
