but all Alex is saying is that give him credit for putting a 5 game unbeaten run together. I think that's only fair.

Yes it is...and it's good to see the club moving away from being a joke.

And I also give credit to the last board for acknowledging that they were not able to move the club forward and recommending the sell out to MM.

However - i think it would still be a big mistake to settle for RK for next season - we can do better than that and I think MM ought to make the difficult decision to say " Thank's Rob, you did OK but I am replacing you."

Agree with that Redditch. I refer to Glyn's point, he's right, that's all I meant too.

I think its a bit early to be praising him tbh. i agree that the recent form is a positive, and i believe RK is at least in part responsable. but it will take a sustained run of good form to convince me that RK is a good enough manager.

IMO a top 10 finish this year and i might be convinced he is worth sticking with next season (likely to require 20ish points from the last 36 available). At the biggining of the season most considered mid-table a reasonable target, and i still feel it would be reasonable.

The current run of form is merely enough to save him from critisism IMO. I think he will be here till the nd of the season so i'll re-asses him then.

Allows him the opportunity to leave with dignity. ;)

He doesn't necessarily have to leave. The new manager might accept him as senior coach.
:064::075:
Why - what has he done to prove that he could be senior coach again?

He was coach for the shite team before he became manager...and he's pretty much been Head coach since.

You have to be objective about all of this - which most importantly means ignoring the games since MM came on board. Taking our mini-run out of the equation you have a man who has singlehandedly failed to keep players fit, failed to motivate them to play to potential and failed to adopt tactics to win or entertain.

Maybe this is a half-cup-full scenario, if it is then I reckon Kelly has a half empty head. He's cut his managerial teeth on us, hasn't made a right feck up of it...well done...good luck...now feck off. :icon_cool

Why? It's still CL's leftovers, with a few of RK's signings with zero money, and RK's putting the, together as a team.

Once MM coughs up for a few playaers we can maybe call it his side. Till then RK carries the can for good or for bad.

This is wholly irrelevant.

Villa, Fulham & Post-Mandaric takeover - we have seen players raise their game...why haven't they done it for the rest of the season? Because the manager couldn't get them to do it.

Have you watched any games this season? Seriously. I have no idea if you have or haven't...but I am stunned that anyone who has witnessed his selection of tactics and use of substitutions this season could find any words of praise for him.

He is cresting a wave at the moment...not of his making...and to want to give him more time and money is simple football suicide. I'm all too aware that swapping managers too frequently is not a key to success ~ but Kelly was a cheap stop-gap. His time has come and gone.

The only pertinent use of the term CL leftovers would be one that applied directly to Kelly...

Well, yes I have. And the current unbeaten run is pretty much entirely due to his tactics, it seems. It might be mostly negative but Johnson and Jarrett work together in the centre of the park to completely disrupt other team's play - most clearly seen against Ipswich and West Brom.

Great but with who?

Perhaps Milanio is waiting and biding his time to see who might become available. If I were Milan I might be waiting to see what pans out at West Ham and their manager. If he was to become unemployed I might decide that LCFC might need a new manager too.

But fair play to this thread RK deserves some credit. It has been a good February and a crucial month for us. HIS signings have pulled us out of the shit (well we are nearly there) and whether you love or hate him he has now had three nominations for manager of the month and won it once. Not too bad IMO.

Whether he is the bloke to get us out of this league is not for me to decide thankfully, that is now down to Milan.

Agree with all that. But on the subject of who should be the next manager - that is down to MM. I just don't see any role at the club for RK that would be acceptable to both parties. I'm sure that he wouldn't want to run the Academy and he isn't right for the club as manager and he has done nothing to suggest that he should be the first team coach and in any case a new manager will want to bring in his own person. I think there has been an unusual amount of sense in this thread. People do appreciate what RK has done....but the cruel bottom line is that he was the old board's cheap stop gap as has already been mentioned.

He said: "Milan has been good. You can only speak as you find, and he has a good knowledge of the game, with contacts everywhere, and he makes suggestions and recommendations. And so he should.

"But any new player has to fit in to the plan of what I am trying to do. We are very early on in the relationship, just getting to know each other, but I have been able to say 'no, I don't think this one' and explain why."

Of course, and quite rightly, RK can say no to Milan's player loan suggestions, but only as long as he keeps winning!

But you can bet your bottom dollar MM is wondering why RK hasn't asked for (x) player or (y) player especially when they have been available.

I suspect RK is happy with his lot, he's out soon.

Speculation Melts, but fairly accurate once we stop winning I am sure.
