Some cracking stuff there, blaarev. Saw Porcupine Tree in Manchester a couple of years ago and they did a great version of "Way out of Here."

Are you into the Magnetic Fields by any chance?

I Heard Lazerus when in a bar in Spain last week and loved it. Spent ages trying to find an english speaking staff member to find out who it was for me.

Any suggestions as to where to start with Porcupine Tree, or particularly good work by them?

Depends really. The first one I heard was Fear of a Blank Planet when it came out and I loved it, but the lyrics are a bit cheesy. The PTree purist though will tell you their earlier stuff (In Absentia, Lightbulb Sun and Stupid Dream) are better. I like all 4 of those albums, but i still think FoaBP is my favourite, not heard any of their others. Haven't listened to them in an age.

"Lazarus" is on "Deadwing" (2005). That could be a good starting point. I discovered them with "In Absentia" and bought the whole back catalogue. Love them! To proggy for manys liking and not enough proggy for many proggers :icon_wink. You could also check out one of Steven Wilson's other bands, Blackfield. They are a bit poppier with shorter songs and less prog.

Magnetic Fields have been fluttering in the distance for me. Never have got around to check them out, though I know I should after hearing Peter Gabriel's cover version of "The Book of Love"! Suggestions to where to start?
