32 years ago I had someone's electric bass guitar left in my bed-room (I used to record stuff there). I couldn't play bass and didn't particularly fancy playing it.

I had a copy of the first Ramones LP and while listening to it with headphones on, I decided that I could play bass. By the time the LP had ended I had worked out everything Dee Dee was doing and absolutely loved it.

I've just played the LP again and very sloppily done Dee Dee's bits. Absolutely loved it.

Well, I decided to dig out some stuff that I absolutely loved as a kid.

I remember quite clearly that when I was 10 years old coming home from school and being blown away by the fantastic song on the radio. A song that really impressed me by its basic, no messing around, rough sounding groove. Yes, I was 10.

I've just been listening to Gary Glitter - Rock & Roll Part 2. Followed by a few of his other big hits that I loved way back then.

They still bring back great memories for me and that's what I take - my memories from 45 years ago. Loving music as a kid.

Ok, moving on.

This is just fantastic if you like basic rock n roll (like my life is based on).

Wonderful.

I really makes me laugh now when I look back on my youth.

Apparently my young impressionable soul was in danger of being corrupted by the Satanic evils of Punk Rock. Evil twisted men like Johnny Rotten & Joe Strummer were going to pollute me with their poisonous behaviour & destroy my future.

What I needed as an impressionable child was to enjoy safe, wholesome, family entertainment. People who made it their business to set good examples to children.

Jimmy Savile
Rolf Harris

& if I wanted a bit of lively rock n roll it should be harmless fun.

Gary Glitter.

Funny how things turn out...
