Unless he made it clear to Newton that that was what he was going to do, of course....

who of? Shaun Newton?? Hes pretty much ridiculed him to the fans. That wouldnt motivate me.
yes of shaun newton and everybody else looking on.

if you was manager, im sure you would do things your way,but your not and he is so we will go with that untill he f*cks up or gets us in the prem.

let me make one thing clear if he turns out to be all air and no substance i will be the first to recomend he slings his hook.but he hasnt yet so i will back him,he is the leicester manager you know:102:

Or...

He is spending a sensible amount of money on a player with whom he requires maximum effort otherwise it won't be extended past the year. He maintained he would make this the clause and that his style is to lay down the gauntlet.

Surely as City fans we're happy at this?

Levein or Adams would have signed him up for two years and prasied him to the heavens. 'Hes a top lad, wonderful player'. Then he would have sat about for the second year of the contract taking my hard earned money.

Well done Allen I say....

agreed. plus as i missed newton's only good game (brum) of his loan spell i think a massive improvement is needed if he's fit to jog up and down the line doing warm ups

Spot on. It's about time some fragile egos got a smack of reality. After watching the players Walkers Walk-About post Wolves and thinking that I would potentially never earn their wages, it disgusted me.

What a load of bollox I have just read on here. Poor little Shaun must be crying into his comforter blanket because the nasty manager went and told the fans he thought he was sh*te last year and not worth a 2 year contract!

Well guess what Shaun, and all your namby pamby supporter friends, we ALREADY knew you were sh*te last year and not worth a 2 yr contract, so no confidences broken there!

For fecks sake people, wake up and smell the coffee! Unprofessional my arse! Our money through STs and the turnstiles and the warm beer helps pay their wagesl, so we are entitled to know. He did not tell us his salary, just that he would only be here initially for one year. If Shaun cannot cope with the fans knowing that the manager knows what they already knew then he is too 'sensitive' to be at this club.
I know Milan was diplomatic during the takeover and referred to the players in very general terms of 'they were trying to play their best' etc but Mad Dog should tell it as he sees it. I fully expect after at least one match for him to say: 'That was a pile of poo and least 3 players will not be playing next week'.

Top drawer Mike.

I think though in fairness the point Melts et al were making were more in the questioning of whether MA's honesty would bring the best out of Newton, in other words, give him that contract but don't spell out why to all.

However, I like the stance.

Ah yes the wisdom of MON! Two different players play sh*te. To one he soothes and says 'Well done, keep trying'. To the other goes the rocket up the arse! Well maybe Mad Dog has determined Newton to be the 'rocket up the arse' sort of guy.

But actually he has done it with several teams now so I am sure he has worked out which type of players it has worked best on. I am also sure that it will have been set as homework as well by his management guru and evaluated in a later tutorial!

I agree. I think he knows the calibre of side he is trying to put together, and that Newton only fits that when he plays like he did against Birmingham City at home (at least for 60 mins) but other displays would not be of the level; and in fairness to players still training with the side who he has not given contracts to this would seem right.

I thought the Newton comments were a very obvious sign of what Allen feels Newton needs, which is a kick up the arse rather than an arm round the shoulder. That's just standard football management, isn't it?

Yes, and there is nothing wrong with that if it's the way to motivate him.

But he doesn't need to go public with it in a "Hey, look how I've motivated the player, aren't I a ****ing legend" type of way.

But what if MA thinks telling us will motivate him?

And I don't see why you think he's being unprofessional by telling us he's got a one year contract, with the possiblity of an extension if he does well. That's quite common in football, sometimes it's something we don't get told about, but not always.

Because you don't want to Jeff.

There is nothing wrong with telling details of the contract, but it's the manner which it's done, the gloating, the arrogance, the piss taking.

I'm not trying to convince anybody, so I don't want to argue as I'm not against MA in any way, just some of his behaviour I find repulsive.

But hey, I found Charles Manson's behaviour repulsive, and he also managed to get the idiots to believe in him and punish those that dare to question his methods

Cant we have a different abbreviation to MA for maddog:102: . Too many bad memories of mental mickey. Bloody nightmare wont go away:icon_conf

What do you mean by that?
You said that you don't see why I think he's being unprofessional. I had previously explained why I thought so, so I'm guessing you don't want to understand as I thought it was pretty self expalantory why I thought he was being unprofessional.

And I explained why I thought he wasn't being professional.

Maybe you think players contracts should be secret, but we're the ones playing their wages so I'd be happy to see the details of all the players contracts. It would stop some of the ridiculous speculation that goes on.
