I had a chat with him before the game. Apparently he was ejected from Bramall Lane for asking a copper whether he liked watching soap on the telly. The copper asked him which soaps he mean t and bernie said Emmerdale and Last of the Summer Wine. Bernie feels that the copper, being a Yorkshire lad, reckoned that he was taking the piss.

That's Bernie's story anyway!

He managed to catch the 17:01 train away from Barnsley - seemed to be having some kind of battle with his underkecks during the journey to Sheffield. Not sure how much the locals appreciated his announcement of each station as we arrived.

He left the ground 10 minutes before the end of the match.

Did he? I recall him making his way up towards the exit at about that time but I hadn't realised he had left.

He left the seating area via the far left of the stand at the front, where the empty seats were. Why he went that way I don't know, but he waved to the police as he went so I assumed he wasn't coming back.

I wonder if it was the same one who gave him a ride in his van a fortnight ago.

This was more entertaining than the game itself was it? :icon_wink

You must have been sitting on the right-hand side of the first carriage, next to the window and facing forward.

I was further forward (possibly the front row of seats), facing backwards in the aisle seat on the opposite side of the aisle - I could see Bernie diagonally across the aisle for the whole journey. When he went quiet on that last part of the journey, he also went very pale. I was wondering to myself whether, if he were to collapse, he would have fallen to his left or to his right or straight forward. Now I know that it was you who had a 33.3% chance of being the lucky person.

The question must be, would you have administered the kiss of life should it have been deemed necessary?

No tongues like, just the breath bit :icon_wink

On the same trains as him all the way home.

He obviously enjoys the craic and wind up, the whole of the North seemed to know him, but as he wasn't wound up he was very quiet.

Obviously 2 extreme sides to him

I was indeed.

I must admit when he sat down I did wonder what sort of journey I was in for. But once he had his initial outburst he settled down and was as good as gold, not even a peep from him when the platform on arrival at Sheffield was full of Hull supporters.

He was a living nightmare on the way back from Barnsley last season, but then so were a fair few other Leicester fans
