I just dont think Lennon would cut the mustard - assistant Manager maybe.... I was reminded last night of Frank McLintock, he was a legend at the club (so I was told) and look what happened there.... :icon_roll

exactly HF we are not in a position for anyone to practice being manager on us :icon_roll we need help right now !!!!!!!!!!

Lennon would be an appointment made with the Heart and not the Head IMNO

my thoughts on this exactly

Head says Cotterill
Heart says Lennon

I suppose, looking at the other options, I would be happy with either.

I dont want anyone outside of these two.

No...wait....Is Billy Bingham, the former Northern Ireland manager, any relation to Traci?

Why not have Cotterill as manager with Lennon as assistant manager? Would be brilliant IMVBO :icon_wink

Why is it that some people seem to get carried away with the prospect of ex-players / big name players (Walshie / Lennon / Psycho) being the saviour to clubs looking for a new manager, especially when they are in trouble.

Good managers invariably become good managers after going through some form of apprenticeship, either at the lower levels of football or as a No 2 at a successful club, nearly always having completed thier coaching badges.

For anyone thinking about Walshie, just look at his record in football management - shocking - and all of the stories that surrounded him when he managed.

For anyone thinking about a Psycho / Lennon type, just look at Psycho's first foray into management, relegating the tree's after being brought in as the saviour mid season.

I think you're right. We need someone who feels something for the club, having played for the team and has spent some time managing a club or working as an assistant manager. Hang on a minute, that describes Rob Kelly, doesn't it?

It'll all work out fine IMFBO :081:

good point, but that geezer at notts county is getting a lot of attention in the media, never heard of him and dont want to .

That 'geezer' is fairly well known, he was manager of Stoke for quite a while and is Joey Gudjonsson's dad.
my point being what has he achieved.

Assuming that's a question, in his first full season at Stoke he got them into the play-offs. In his second full season he got them promoted via the play-offs. He then went to Barnsley and after a good start their promotion campaign faded and he was sacked after less than a year - but he left them in a better position than when he joined them. He's also been manager of Iceland.

He wouldn't be my first choice, but his record's not bad.
He was at Stoke for 154 games, he won 77 and lost 38. He won 14 and lost 13 of his 42 games at Barnsley, and has won 11 and lost 12 of his 33 games at Notts County.

Not saying he is, but your idea to dismiss him just because you hadn't heard of him was ridiculous. Would you rather have someone you've heard of with no managerial record?
handbags or what..
