Why would Lennon be anymore of a gamble than the likes of Peter Reid, Jim Smith, Gary McAllister and John Gregory.
Whilst tactics play a big part in football, the most important aspects have to be passion, commitment, desire, tenacity, winning mentality and team spirit, all the things Lenny carries in abundance, remember MON's success was driven by the players togetherness, never say die attitude, commitment, passion and desire to succeed. We were never the best team to enter the League cup yet we won it twice...why? Because we had the desire to, we wanted it the most.
Lenny will bring that back to this club, and if he can bring an experienced backroom team with him for instance Robertson and Walford, then I see no reason why it cannot be successful.
Appointing a manager is always a big risk, so why not take a risk on a legend who is desperate to return, he loves the club and is the epitomy of our most successful recent history. Also he would have that X-Factor, a manager to unite the fans, imagine the atmosphere at the Walkers, Neil Lennon's Blue and White Army being chanted for 90 minutes, week in week out.
Also for the majority of his playing career he has played under possibly two of the best managers he could learn from, Dario Gradi and MON, he is the only candidate that has truly excited the fans (IANGWOC), and I think it would be a masterstroke to get him back, but only if he has experienced backroom staff with him.
