I think Sven is unlikely to want to go back and give another opportunity to somebody who could have been there if he had wanted to be.

Odd though that Sven has not just walked away though like he did with CMS. Sven must really rate him if he is prepared to keep the door open for him.

We didn't walk away from the CMS deal. From what I gather we wanted him to wait while we saw how the Maynard offer went and CMS didn't want to wait and signed for Brighton instead.

He must be desperate/greedy for the money if he is prepared to gamble on Sven not going for someone else soon. Other clubs do not appear to be banging on his door offering barrows full of money do they?

He'll still get paid if he stays at Everton - probably more than other clubs are willing to pay him. If he sees out his contract there he might be able to negotiate a big signing on fee at another club.

If Everton are unable to offload Yak permanently before the end of August, Sven may look to loan him again. Apart from that, I think it's a non-starter.

Would prefer him on loan anyway I think. Injury past, expensive, potentially 50 years old, would be nice to have a get out option.

That said, massive fan and I believe he'd score bags and bags of goals.

Sven has not kept the door open. Did you reply to my post without reading it?

His age creeps up by the day :icon_lol:

I'm sure I remember SGE saying on Radio Leicester a while back that the Yakubu deal was not going to happen.

EDIT ... This was in the Mercury last month ...

Leicester City may abandon their bid to sign Yakubu as they grow increasingly frustrated at the Nigerian striker's reluctance to commit to a transfer.

City have agreed a fee with Premier League club Everton for the 28-year-old, believed to be around £3million.

However, Yakubu is stalling over the offer because he is reluctant to drop down permanently into the Championship.

'Unlikely to want to go back to him' does not mean the door is closed, does it? Or is 'unlikely' Sven speak for 'He has blown his chance'?

Is it possible he wants to come, but Sven would rather assess all options before paying such a high wage?
