I seem to remember back on page 3 I was questioned why I thought that posters would turn on Shakey after a loss.

Fans are fickle.

Guess I was right.

As for Shakespeare, he does some good things. I like his in game substitutions and changes generally, sadly he keeps putting out the same failing starting lineup every game which means he needs to change it.

Okazaki is not a prem player; Mahrez hasn't played more than a handful of decent games all season and should have been dropped; Fuchs and Morgan are past it, Simpson is a relegation battling team RB.

He should've been playing Amartey in midfield when Drinky was injured and if not he should have put Amartey in CD as the upgrade on Morgan. I think amartey is going to be a good player but Shakey bottled the opportunity to find out over these last 5 or 6 games of the season. If we're only going with 2 midfielders then Ndidi, Drinky and Amartey are a good rotation.

He should've played Chilwell at LB. Fuchs isn't good enough for next year and to play him as the senior CB was a disgrace and not fair on Fuchs. again Chilwell should have had an end of season run - shakey bottled it.

He's given Benny a run - fair dos (not that he had a choice). Benny has played well with Huth to cover for him, but he wanders and dives in, without a Huth figure he's not good enough at the back. I'd rather he was the back-up CB and RB after Morgan and Simpson have been replaced.

He's stuck with Mahrez like old chewing gum when he should've dumped him and given young Gray the keys to the car and let Kapustka get the replacement gig.

He stuck with Vardy and came up trumps. Vardy has been great since Shakey took over.

He brought Ulloa back in - Why? but at least he corrected his error quickly.

He brought Okazaki back in and despite the beautiful smile and great effort that was a big mistake which he hasn't corrected.

Overall, we've won most of our home games, we didn't lose all of our away games. We still lost to the teams higher in the table (not good teams just higher teams) but we beat the lower teams.

It seems he did better than CR this season but is he the man to lead us any higher than relegation battlers next season?

I don't think he has the bottle.

I want a manager who believes in attacking football - I don't mind losing games as long as I enjoy our play.

Just saw this on the beeb, doesn't seem quite so rosy when you see it written down.

and in reality we won our first 6 and then only won 2 of 9. I guess 8 out of 17 isn't bad, not great and not good enough for league champions but not bad.

It'd be interesting to see the menu changes at the training ground at the start of his managerial period and now. There's bound to be something that's upset them.

Ever the wind up merchant. Don't you remember we lost to Man City and Arsenal just recently too? No public hangings demanded then, largely tales of 'hard done by' and 'not quite up to par' but last night was genuinely a very bad show.

Mancini would be my preference and has been since Ranieri left. It was the right move to give it to Shakespeare until the end of the season and take it from there. He's done a good job, we've performed well and got results against similar sides to ourselves but have been found wanting against the top sides. This appointment is all about ambition to me. I'd be happy enough with Shakespeare, but I don't see him as an inspiring appointment to try and build or take the club forward. The appeal of Shaekspeare is largely that he knows the squad very well and has learned various tactics and such like under two very good managers in Pearson and Ranieri.

For me Mancini would be the ideal fit here, has a club connection - never really done a bad job anywhere and has a lot of experience managing some top teams, or in Man City's case helping to 'push them to the next level' to compete with the bigger clubs. I think you've got to be ambitious like that and I think our owners are.

Exactly.

1 bad game.

Fickle.

lsadly he keeps putting out the same failing starting lineup every game which means he needs to change it.

He has never kept the same lineup after a defeat.

Incorrect, poor tactical approaches to multiple games resulting in defeats and only beginning to play a part in games once going a goal down.

What you said was "turn on Shakey after a loss" not 1 bad game. Whether that was our only bad game under Shakey is open to debate anyway but either way we'd suffered a couple of losses under him before last night with no lynch mob. Here:

Pity you can't go back and edit it to make yourself look less stupid. Guess you weren't right... as is often the case.

No because you haven't swung like a seventies middle aged surburbanite and turned on the man that you championed after the 5 easy home games that we won.

Fickle.

Feck one game. I turned on Sousa after 45 minutes. If it stinks like shit and it looks like shit . . .

Now I've wanted Shakespeare to do well. He's fulfilled his brief too. But nobody will ever convince me that he's a football manager.

Thanks and goodbye after Sunday or we'll live to regret it.

do we want him to stay on as a coach? Or is it goodbye?

Probably slightly harsh but history shows that caretaker managers who do get the gig full time don't tend to last long afterwards...

The problem I have with Shakespeare is that his 'claim to the throne' is that he knows the players better than anyone. So then what? Most of the players he's been around for a long time are in their 30s anyway and it's almost certain that we'll see some leave the club before next season kicks off (see Mahrez). I think there's an element of needing to start a fresh and if that manager can convince some of our key players they are part of his plans then that will help see us through the short term (which let's be honest, is how far we're looking if we make Shakespeare #1).

As I've mentioned, I'd be fairly happy with Shakespeare. He stopped the rot (as is often the case when a new manager or interim manager takes over) and all in all we've done pretty well under him so far. But if there's the opportunity to do better - we should take it.

How would he ever be happy being demoted to coach again? Unfortunately, I think he would go if he didn't get the job. I know I'd want to leave if I was in his position. Long-term anyway, even if he stayed, he wouldn't be happy. More of the same next season (16-10th place), or whole-sale changes. I'll go back to my cupboard now.

It's safe in The Safe House as long as you don't drink or eat anything in the fridge, and stay away from the room next to the toilet. And the toilet of course.
