I wouldn't say Andy Welsh is proven at this level either, IMHO i don't think he offers us anything at all. He lacks pace, a touch and any strength

Not including for us, I think he has played about 15 games in this league. Hardly proven. Sunderland signed him from Stockport when they were in League One and having a decent season.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but we all remember how bad we were under Levein. Shite football, no idea etc

At the start of the season i went to one of those q&a thing with Rob Kelly and he kept banging on about putting round pegs in round holes. Playing players in thier best position and not having them all over the place. A think the example he used was Kisnorbo at Centre half.

I believe the good run at the end of last season was down to this and fair play to Kelly. He did very very well. All of a sudden though this season we have players playing in different positions from week to week.

Examples include Stearman in midfield, we've even seen momo have run outs from centre midfield. There's no real consistency. Along with this we don't seem to have a plan B

At least Levein had a plan for year on year improvement you could see what he was trying to do. When we played well under Levein we played really well - Spurs and Sheff United to name two.

The squad needed such dramatic overhauling for football and financial reasons and if you're getting in a squad of frees and nearly-frees the risk is enormous. The fact is though it outweighed the post-parachute financial risk of fiddling while rome burnt and careering towards administration again.

Even when Kelly's team were winning they weren't playing good football. Now they aren't even winning.

The Spurs performance was outstanding. Name one match under Kelly where we've played even 50% of that.
The Spurs match wasn't outstanding, we just battled harder than they did. The football wasn't that attractive.

The football under Levein was mildly better than it is now, but I wouldn't call it anything other than mediocre at best

I think to be fair Stearman has been in midfield because of injuries to Williams, Wesolowski, Tiatto, Johnson and Hughes who have all been out at one time or another.

I agree with your point that a settled team gave us results last year and IMO given an injury free period a team of:

Logan

Stearman Kisnorbo McCarthy Nissa

Hughes Weso Williams Porter

Hume Fryatt

would give most teams in the league a decent game. However, our ressies aren't up to the task and we came into the season relying so much on Fryatt, now he isn't performing we are struggling as Hume is our only danger.

Good post. Though i think RK would struggle to get that team playing to its potential!!
