Personally I'm arguing about the continued negative press the police receive based on video snippets that dont reveal the whole story.

The police had to spend two days dealing with protestors some of whom were continously breaking the law. A policemen PUSHES OVER a believed protestor (The Telegraph Reports that even protestors thought he was a protestor) because he wasnt doing what the other protestors had no problem in doing. This man then dies of a heart attack and gives the media the chance to paint the police once again as "thugs in uniform".

:038::038::038:

So you believe the push did kill him then?

The push, the striking of his legs with the baton, his hitting the floor - any one of those could have caused his death.

According to the Indepent, it is alleged, I repeat alleged, that Mr Tomlinson was subject to three assualts prior to his final encounter with the police. What is not in doubt is the fact that the officer who pushed him over had covered part of his face and had also removed his shoulder identification number, both contrary to police rules. What will come as no surprise the those who know the Met is that the officer who pushed Tomlinson over was from the Territorial Support Group who are well known for being, err, heavy handed at the least.

Yes, he got up and walked away.

It's nonsense to say that it didn't cause his death just because he was able to walk away. The truth is that nobody knows whether or not the incident caused his death - only that it happened soon afterwards.

Criminal charges have been brought against the policemen so that's good news anyway :icon_roll

Have they? Where did you learn of this?

Then fair enough, he should be made accountable for his actions, no?

Being moved by the police because they were having missiles thrown at them

Erm, if you look at the video no missiles were being thrown prior and after him being pushed over. Even if they were, what has that got to do with Mr Tomlinson, who was just trying to get home.

Absolutely. If the video did not exist I would surmise that no action would have been taken against him. It took him until yesterday to come forward, despite the fact photographs have been widely availlable. The appearance of the video seems to have, err, jogged his memory somewhat.

Clearly my argument is too complicated for you.

Clearly

I am just struggling to think what rational arguement anyone could have against mine below.

Unarmed man is struck with a batton and then hurled to the floor by a policeman (someone who should know the law) This is caught on tape and cannot be ignored.

Unarmed man dies minutes later, the aforementioned assault could have influenced his death.

Police SHOULD launch an investigation to determine if there was any wrong doing (I believe that is how the law works for any human beings). The police themselves obviously agree as an investigation is opened.

Missiles were thrown at the police whilst they were helping tomlinson when he was having the heart attack.

The missiles resulted in the police having to pick up Tomlinson and move him to a safer area.

Saying nothing about the way the Police immediately brief the press and essentially "misrepresent" the series of events.

The police reported that a man died of natural causes that were not influenced by the protests.

As people have pointed out the man got up and had his heart attack in another street. Do you know that the police who found him were the same ones that saw him pushed over. Do you know that even if they were they recognised him?

You believe the police have covered it up, but it is just as easily believable that they did not connect the two incidents.

You can see missiles being thrown in the video Steven :icon_roll

EDIT: The video has now been changed from the one yesterday, but even still you can see a missle being thrown as the police help him. This is a different clip of a missile from the one that was shown yesterday.

Calm down, I was replying to Steven who suggested the police misrepresented what happened. I was explaining that they could have easily have not connected the two incidents.
