There are no missiles being throw in the clip where he was assualted. In fact it all looks rather quiet there in all honesty.

Oh you mean the 20 seconds of video, you're right missiles arent thrown in the 20 seconds of him being pushed over.

A missile is thrown towards the police as they are helping the bloke when he is lying there having a heart attack though. Which results in them having to move him. :icon_roll

That didn't happen in the place where he was assaulted by the cop, he collapsed in a different street.

In a place where the police had " kettled " hundreds of protesters together, which presumably was where the police were attempting to encourage the chap to go. I repeat, it looks pretty quiet in the area where he was assaulted. Why they could not have used their discretion and let the guy wander home only they know. He doesn't look like public enemy number one to me, he's not attempting to disguise his appearance, he's not waving a stick around, he doesn't appear to be gesticulating wildly, he's just shambling around with his hands in his pockets.

I didnt say it did. The point i was making is that missiles were being thrown, even when somebody is laying injured on the floor.

If missiles are being thrown I can understand why the police arent going to stop and "have a word" like Lee H suggested. This is of course making the assumption that they hadnt already made attempts before.

Re: Random News Article Thread

If you look at the video on this report you will see the copper push the guy that eventually died not long after from a heart attack. The way he pushes him is just the way the Police(well some of them) have pushed football fans around for years when they are trying to show who is boss. Usually it's the cocky fan out front trying to show off thats hes right hard that ends up getting pushed but that fan would usually be ready for it. This guy who is pushed here obviously is NOT ready for it and this shock may have been one of the causes of his ultimate heart attack.

The cops in the clip look pretty relaxed to me, they had plenty of time to have a word, or if they thought the guy was breaking any laws then they could have arrested him. They did neither. They assaulted him. In any kind of society I want to live in I don't think that is acceptable at all.

****ing cock snoggers

Just jumping back in at the end here, but has anyone seen any video showing what happened before the Guardian clip? Maybe he was being physically agressive and the Guardian only showed what fits in with their views of the police? None of us have all the facts.

He wasn't being in any way aggressive at all prior to the assault, in fact nobody was being in any way aggressive towards that group of cops.

Watching this video of the event, you'd be hard pressed to know that there was even a demonstration going on.

Most people who have been around marches, 'heated' football crowds, protests, etc knows that there are a minority of people who try their hardest to provoke the police and then overact if the police do anything.

The police are paid to rise above that sort of idiot behaviour and do their job.

What is apparent to many of us who've experienced police in these sort of situations is that there are a fair number who can't wait for an opportunity to take their frustrations out on the people they are policing. There are a fair number of police officers with an appalling attitude to people and a blood lust. Particularly those who volunteer for baton duty and wear balaclavas etc (by the way since when was this an acceptable uniform?).

This incident simply highlighted a police officer behaving like a thug. Whatever the deceased man was doing or saying is completely irrelavant. In that sort of situation the police are there to protect people and property and enforce the law. The officer in the video was doing neither.

Agreed here. I see the situation similar to that which happens often when people travel away games following their team and end up frogmarched or 'charged' at because of an idiot minority.

Not aimed at you personally... But opinions are like arseholes... Everyone has one

The truth is no one knows what happened before or immediately after the snapshot so it's left to peoples prejudices as to what conclusion they draw and I know which one I draw...
