This thread gives me a headache.

Almost nobody that voted remain feels happy. Almost everybody that voted leave believe that they made the right decision.

Nothing anyone says on here will change either perspective.

The sad thing is that it has resulted in our country being divided as never before and easily exploited by the charlatans that are in charge. It's their job to make sure we have food and fuel and so on. It doesn't matter whether Brexit causes it or not.

Nothing will get better for those that voted either way until the focus shifts.

The division caused is my biggest problem with it. I voted remain, although I accept I was in the minority.

Be interesting if any of the political parties have a vote on re joining the EU as their key voting strategy in the next general election

Labour..... I can't them campaigning for any closer unity, but if the economy was really really bad, I could see the Customs' Union getting mentioned, but not the single market yet

It's FPTP, so the rest hardly matter unless there's a coaltion, but...

The Lib Dems might advcocate rejoining, but not yet by the sounds of it

The SNP advocate rejoining, but, funnily enough, as an independent Scotland

****ing hell, what a melt.

So the reason was because some other people called you names?

And then you go on to say that those names are often true?

No wonder the country is ****ed.
Did you actually read the post, or did you just pick a couple of words and see what you wanted?

Why would I want idiots to warm to me? I'm not standing as a Tory MP
Again my point was that you can't sway people by telling people they are wrong and stupid. This is the way the 'left' and the old labour party worked.

It. Doesn't. Work.

But it makes no logical sense.

The premises is literally, 'I'm voting for the others as some people called me names even though I do agree that those names are often true'

How does that make sense?
Makes no logical sense because it's not what I said.

"I'm voting for others because the other guy called me an idiot" makes perfect sense. People are quite simple in some ways.

They don't vote for people who call them idiots... whether they perceive themselves to be idiots or not.

You've made assumptions about the way I've voted, just because I made the point.

.
Oh dear BN. It is wise to avoid the word "never".
There were civil wars galore between 1642 and 1746 British armies fighting British armies. A king being beheaded and another forced off the throne. Figures are difficult but the percentage of the population killed between 1642 and 1646 may have been higher than in The First World War. That really was a divided country.

Anybody who dismisses supporters of either of the two main parties as idiots does not deserve to be elected.
Winston Churchill (Conservative) and Clement Attlee (Labour) regarded each other with respect and affection. That was also true of Harold Macmillan and Harold Wilson. As with much else that was good this seemed to end with Margaret Thatcher

The English civil War museum in Newark is an excellent place to spend a few hours, I never knew that the English civil war was the direct cause of the problems that still exist in Ireland to this day

I don’t think you have to apply the literal meaning, David. It just serves to unnecessarily ignore the point BN was making.

We’re going Newark this weekend to get the kid vaccinated for Chickenpox and we might well pop in, cheers.

Park in the council offices car park it's very reasonable price wise, it's on the road by the cattle market, you can walk past the castle ruins(free) they also do boat trips there, the market place is lovely to very scenic. Everything is easily walkable, enjoy, my wife and I did.

Is that Upper Brown Street? Because I agree - very well priced parking. Most of Leicester seems to have gone insane. The NCP near the train station is about £17 a day I think.

In Leicester.
