I'm feeling distinctly deja-vu, expecting frantic activity (well, tapping a few keys into Amazon Prime anyway) trying to get Paw Patrol toys for my granddaughter, just as 35+ years ago it was My Little Pony for her mother. Amazingly, a millennium apart, both bits of plastic "lived" in a warehouse in Coalville.

I remember growing up in the 80's and there was shortages around Christmas then, especially on popular toys, I also had a few days unpaid at home when I couldn't get petrol for my car during the fuel shortages in the Autumn of 2000.

I take onboard that other countries have similar issues....so what I would say is, if and when Christmas shortages happen, if it is much more pronouned in GB than NI, that's almost certainly because they are in the single market and customs' union
