and probably because he played for them, it makes me laugh how clubs usually like to go for an ex player to be their next manager, do they do it to try and get the fans on their side or because if they were a decent player for them they automatically think theyll be a decent manager as well

Arsene Wenger played for Strasbourg and made appearances in the UEFA Cup. A little bit better than a conference player if you ask me.

EDIT: And I'm sure Mourinho played for a top division Portuguese side at some point as well, even if it wasn't for long.
