Re: Chelsea / Brum v Leicester FA Cup Quarter Final - Sun 18 March

Having looked at both options, I've discovered either would be an absolute bugger to get to from sunny Skeggy on a Sunday. If I want to go, it's crashing at a friend's house in Lestoh on Saturday and taking it from there. So driving, train and doubtless considerable amounts of marking and lesson planning to squeeze in too.

Looking out of this barring a miracle.

My point was that all entertainment outlets are getting more expensive and overpriced.

My point is that I don't think cinema can be included in that list.

And to a certain extent nor can theme parks. I don't actually believe I have ever been to somewhere like Alton towers and NOT been able to find some cheap deal somewhere. If people are desperate to go in the middle of summer when they know (surely?) that it will be expensive for what they get, don't go then. Yesterday I spent the day at Blackpool pleasure beach, and considering the cost of building and running a coaster, of which they have perhaps 7 or 8, it was £16. Hardly crippling.

There are cheap football deals too, just ask Mawsley. It's not like it's a human right to afford to go and see your favourite team.

Have you ever been to the CinemaDelux in Leicester, far from a 'Pit'

Yes. Just because you have to go up an escalator to get to it doesn't make it any less of a pit.

I can't wait for the bubble to burst, if I'm honest.

Be careful what you wish for: I think that time is coming, sooner than most people think. The problem is that many teams - Leicester City included - will be in desperate trouble when it does.

True, and I realise the predicament that we could be facing. But something's got to give at some point, and there are going to be some very upset fans.

Problem is, how are City going to make sure that they aren't one of the ones to go?

People (myself included) have been saying the bubble will burst very soon for the past 10 years, I'm not entirely sure it will.

What aspect of that particular cinema makes it a pit?

Would a pit not be something you'd go down an escalator to get to?

I would imagine that if you are travelling up then it is a dump you would be alighting at the top of.

most pits you go down to, like coal pit and cess pit

but some pits you go up to, like arm pit and Hull

There was a guy on the radio last week i don't recall his name, he said was working for the football league when the ITV digital deal collapsed. He was involved in brokering a deal with potential suitors, they had two offers, one of £3m from the BBC, then SKY came in with £100m.
While the armchair fan keeps shelling out their monthly subscriptions the bubble, however precarious will remain.

I am not so sure: TV wants vicarious thrills. Soccer is beginning to look old hat. Were TV to tire of soccer, the sheiks, etc. would soon move away.

Really? My telly just seems to want electricity. I try and deprive it as much as I can

I bet that teaches it good. If that doesn't work you can always use a food blender in front of it, that gets mine working just fine. And the TV.

Cruel bastard. I let my TV GORGE on electricity. It's practically swollen with unused power.

Won't ever happen. How is it starting to look old hat anyway? If anything, this could be the year that a fifth team actually wins the Premier League for the first time. From an objective point of view, the last couple of seasons have certainly been more interesting than the years of domination by the old 'top 4' of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Re: Chelsea / Brum v Leicester FA Cup Quarter Final - Sun 18 March

What the **** is soccer?

It's a colloquial English contraction of 'Association Football' and was originally used to distinguish the game from 'Rugby Football'. It is now an extremely common phrase, especially in countries such as Ireland, US, Canada and Australia, where there is a local variation of football.
I'm surprised you haven't heard of it, to be honest.
