The even better option would have been not to get rid of Jimmy Bloomfield in the even firster place.

Of course we'll all get behind him 'cause that's our job as fans and if he feels he has our support then it will make his job easier and the players are more likely to respond positively to him. Welcome Claudio.
Just hope that he is still hungry enough as a manager to put in all the long hours of planning, researching, scouting, training, etc., etc.. that will be needed to continue the constant improvements we enjoyed under Pearson. Last big name manager Sven certainly wasn't.
Not looking foward to Pearson getting signed up by one of our rivals after the inevitable sackings start.

I think some people are quick to forget that it's not that long ago that the best we could attract was Allen, Holloway, Kelly et al. To be able to engage the services of someone like Ranieri shows how far we have come and also where we want to be. A place I don't think Pearson could have taken us. Ok. He engineered the great escape but it was he that rooted us to the bottom in the first place and could just as easily repeat that next year. Ranieri is a risk but I have more optimism for next season than I would have had with Pearson.

A very good post. We are in a far better state than we were a few years ago including when Micky Adams managed us in the Premier League. Some of the credit for that has to go to Nigel Pearson.

One of the themes of Pearson's second spell was bringing in players who were leaders in the dressing room. I am sure that this was one of the reasons for the great escape. I hope Ranieri will not discard this.

On the other hand Ranieri has tremendous contacts. The fact that he speaks Italian, Spanish and French may just be the deciding factor in bringing in certain players. When he arrived at Chelsea his English was poor but it is now excellent; certainly better than Jock Wallace's was.

Lets hope Chelsea have won the league by the final game, and if we require a win, surely they will let Ranieri get it :), great thinking owners!

Anybody expressing displeasure before a ball is even kicked in anger is being very premature. When Sunderland are the opposition in the first game I would hope that everyone is fully behind Claudio.

I don't think anyone is necessarily saying that they won't be. They're saying that he's not the best option.

But other than turning back time, the only name I've heard suggested is Sean Dyche...

Or maybe the better option might have been for Pearson to keep his mouth shut and not force the owners to have to make a decision!!! Who knows who is to blame but the one person that has clearly had no bearin in NP leaving the club is Ranieri and for that reason the fans should support him.

This thread will be fun to pick up again sometime in the future.

The forum won't exist. Ranieri will have destroyed the club by then and Jeff will have turned TB into a site for scat and midget porn. I called this, just remember that in the future.

Still disappointed to have lost NP but could have appointed a far worse manager.

Some of the tripe that we were being linked with at times was becoming farcical - Bradley, Preki etc. In the end, probably just about the best of an OK bunch.

You can't argue with Claudio's CV, we just have to hope he's still got some fire in him to take the club to the next level. As quite rightly pointed out, we have a much better calibre of manager than Sherwood, Pulis, Howe etc. the question will be does Ranieri still have the hunger and desire that the Sherwood's and Howe's of this world do?

If he does, we could be a top half side within two seasons. If he doesn't we could be battling in the everybody beats everybody minefield that is the Championship quite soon.

Welcome The Tinkerer.

I for one welcome Ranieri. He has been given the job to move Leicester city forward by owners who have shown ambition. The owners stuck by Pearson when any other club would have sacked him for his antics and poor performance barring the last 10 games of last season. Pearson did a job for the club but doesn't have the experience at the highest level, which is where the owners want the club to be. More importantly James Pearson let himself down, the club down and his dad down. Nigel apparently chose his son over the club. No one is indispensable so he had to go.
Just my opinion ofcourse :)

Lots of positives, not many negatives. Looking forward to a successful season. Welcome to LCFC 'The Tinkerer'.

Has a good track record although not a regular trophy winner but his clubs are normally in the top third or higher of their respective league. He looks like the sort of bloke who will establish Leicester in the Premier League.
