Big Sam would not come here. Fact.

Davies, perhaps, Dowie, poor.

With all of these you would need to take in to account the cost of paying off Ollie and his merry men too.

Just two matches ago we were amongst the form teams in this division. I think perhaps we're over reacting a little here.

I also think that if MM was to sack another manager - his reptuation would speak for itself, I think anyone with anything about them would stay way clear of here.

We can't keep blaming previous managers for the on the pitch performances now, how many times do I have to point out, there was a turnover of 18 players in January. I suppose we now have to wait for them to gel.
The point is Holloways tactics don't work, he has to admit he's wrong and change them now before it's to late. If he's not willing to change he has to go.
How will relegation be taking us forward ? Look at Forest !!

Why are you so obsessed by the number 18. You are like Jim Carey in that film 23.

Leicester made 18 changes in January, they are 18th in the league, they have scored 18 goals in the last 18 games and Ian Holloway's birthday is on the 18th - is this how your brain works?

And to your other point, off course we need the new players to gel, did you expect all these players to work together straight the way? And why the talk of relegation, we are not even in the relegation zone. There are 3 worse teams in the league that will finish below us. FACT.

View Poll Results: How much longer would you give Holloway as manager?
Until the end of February 4 3.54%
Until the end of the season 18 15.93%
Next season and beyond 77 68.14%
Couldn't give a monkey's 14 12.39%
Voters: 113.

Who can honestly deny how fickle City's fan's have become? What happened to the common sense that prevailed in this poll of barely a month ago?

82% said we should wait at least until next season to change....

No problems with your calls for change though if you were one of the four who gave Ollie 'till the end of February....but there's still three games to go....

Many refer to the problems being inherrited from previous managers, with all the changes this is now Holloways team. Those excuses don't cut it with me.
Oh and we're 20th with 2 difficult matches coming up, after those we could quite easily be in the relegation places.
I hope you're right that there are 3 teams that will finish lower than us but .. Wednesday have a game in hand and if they go on a run like last season, they'll go over us. Preston are improving and will probably be above us after the next 2 games, Scunthorpe and Colchester should hopefully finish below us, but that still puts us 3rd from bottom and relegated.
If you haven't guessed, I have absolutely no faith in Holloways ability to move us up the table or save us from relegation ... let alone get a point from the next 2 matches.
As for the players gelling, that isn't going to happen whilst certain players sit on the bench whilst others are played out of position.

Come MM do the right thing and get Sam Allardyce in. Ian Holloway couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper bag, so we need the best Manager available and that has to be big Sam.

MM, if you want to go down in history as the man that took City down to the lower leagues then stick with Holloway. If you want effectiveness then hire someone effective. If you don't, you are just pouring money down the drain. :icon_conf

It has to start somewhere and if the results continue as they are it wont be long before everyone want a new manager

But how disastrous would it be to get rid of him?

One of the reasons why we're in the position we're in is because we've had no continuity. We've changed managers at least once a season for the last few years, and each manager brings their own players in and we end up with unsettled players which affects the spirit in the squad.

If we get rid of Holloway the only managers willing to take the job will be rejects from other clubs, or untried managers willing to take a risk for the money.

Fans and chairmen are too impatient for success these days, but it's rare that success is instant, it takes longer than a couple of months to build a team.

Holloway's results have been crap so far, and he may not be the right man for the job. But getting rid of him now is not going to make the situation any better, it's likely to just make it worse.

If our points per game ratio under Holloway continues until the end of the season we won't go down. If we get someone else in things will just be even more unsettled and anything could happen.

I agree with your post Jeff, but dont be surprised to see a 'Nigel Worthington' type manager to be appointed if we are where we are with 5/6 games to go.

( i havent read all the posts, so if this has been mentioned, appologies)

fecking read the post properly.........

I said how, why and when did the pitch become bad. I fully realise both teams play on the same fecking pitch. I asked why has it become bad!!!!!! FFS

But surely its the same for both set of players :102:

So you think IH should be sacked after 17 games. OK, thats your opinion. But lets talk about the guy you want to replace him with, Kevin Blackwell.

Tell me what Kevin Blackwell has that makes you think within 17 games, as clearly this is the maximum time you will allow any manager to have, he will do any better or worse than IH?

Given this mornings news, maybe you think Iain Dowie should replace IH, or Sam Allardyce or Chris Coleman!!

Its a joke - sad thing is fans like yourself are never actually genuinely happy. Even if Holloway got us to the play - offs and we lost, you would slag him off for not winning. If he took us to the Premiership and we then did a "Derby" you would slag him off for tactics or something?

So I guess that means that unless we are at the top of the Premiership, playing Champions League football and winning week in week out, you are not going to be genuinely happy?

Fact is we are a million years away from that. We need a period of consolidation, consistency and strategic planning for future years - and in my opinion Holloway is the man for that. Doesn't mean I don't think we are dog shite at the moment, doesn't mean I do not think we can do better because of course we can.

We just all need to look at the bigger picture of previous mis management and now building a team again for the future. Short term pain, long term gain.

As I have said before I do not think now is the time for a change of management, but, if Allardyce, Coleman or Dowie were available and attractable to us when the ginger one left then IH would have not got anywhere near the job.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas (except Melts, probably)

Fact is we're stuck with the carrot crunching yokel for a good while yet - despite the fact that quite a few people think the bloke's not up to it.

Tough titty - but don't berate people for stating the bleeding obvious. Saturday was an utter disgrace in many ways, not least the truly bizarre tactics employed by the manager

Clench your buttocks (alex) and wear your brown trousers for the nexxt few weeks

In an astonishing "homer agrees with Biff shocker", I suspect that Mad Mandy will only do the dirty deed if we are in the bottom three with 5/6 games to go - and even then I'm not sure he'll cut and run this time

It was only a matter of time before you realised 'who's the daddy'

Ive been a fan 35 years and 20 days, and should be shown more respect.

I'm afraid I've been a fan longer than that, so on your knees (again........)

Just out of interest, if we did sack Holloway and got big Sam in and we did get relegated this season, what would your thoughts be? Or would Sam be sacked before then!

I think ID is a considerably better manager than IH.

As a result of Mad Mandy's pathetic leadership so far, we are in no position to make a change. To get rid of IH now would probably result in all football managers across the world uniting in refusing to touch the club. We simply cannot afford to make another change, irrespective of clearly better managers being available.

If ID had been at the club a little over a year ago (as he should have been)when MM was delaying and generally trying to save himself a few quid, I venture to suggest that none of the shambles of the last year would have occurred.

He would also have saved the club millions of pounds we don't have. Instead, the clubs debt continues to accrue whilst we are no better off than this time last year.
