Because they were all great players and doing so well for us before Holloway turned up :icon_conf:bang:

Were they given the chance to play regularly ? IMO no, a lot of those bought in by MA weren't given the chance to prove themselves. You also have to remember that we had by far the best defence in the league pre Holloway, now were just holding on to that. The back 3 we had using Bruno was solid, Holloway doesn't like those tactics even though we look far better playing that way.

The team who got promoted from this division last year you mean?

It's not the fact that they are not his players, it is the fact that this whole club has been mis-managed at all levels for 5 years, he cannot undo that in 16 weeks. No-one could

At all levels ... did you miss the kids last year then ?

All except Neilsen and Kaebi were given ample opportunity :icon_roll

Having spoke to my brother, a pompey fan for over 20 years, he has said MM will do what is neccesary and spend as much as it takes to make the club a success. MM has said himself he will keep changing managers until he finds the right one.
Maybe some of those players that have been paid off could see Holloway for what he is, that is why they were seen as a disruptive influence.

So you think IH should be sacked after 17 games. OK, thats your opinion. But lets talk about the guy you want to replace him with, Kevin Blackwell.

Tell me what Kevin Blackwell has that makes you think within 17 games, as clearly this is the maximum time you will allow any manager to have, he will do any better or worse than IH?

Given this mornings news, maybe you think Iain Dowie should replace IH, or Sam Allardyce or Chris Coleman!!

Its a joke - sad thing is fans like yourself are never actually genuinely happy. Even if Holloway got us to the play - offs and we lost, you would slag him off for not winning. If he took us to the Premiership and we then did a "Derby" you would slag him off for tactics or something?

So I guess that means that unless we are at the top of the Premiership, playing Champions League football and winning week in week out, you are not going to be genuinely happy?

Fact is we are a million years away from that. We need a period of consolidation, consistency and strategic planning for future years - and in my opinion Holloway is the man for that. Doesn't mean I don't think we are dog shite at the moment, doesn't mean I do not think we can do better because of course we can.

We just all need to look at the bigger picture of previous mis management and now building a team again for the future. Short term pain, long term gain.

Holloway might be the man - but so far I think it would be a great struggle to find any evidence that this is the case.

As I've said before, i think that he should be given a fair chance - but to-date apart from having an engaging personality there is not much more than can be said for him. OK he has recognised some key weaknesses - but to be honest so had virtually everyone else who has to suffer to watch the players.

A. Style of football, willingness to admit their ideas are wrong, ability to motivate the players.

A. You obviously didn't read my post in the Dowie sacked thread.

A. Completely wrong. We've always been a yoyo club (except for the MON years) I'm used to the club going up and down between the top two divisions. What i'm not used to is the crap style of football and the crap excuses from a manager who tells us we're wrong to slag the players off, then goes and does exactly that !

We can't keep blaming previous managers for the on the pitch performances now, how many times do I have to point out, there was a turnover of 18 players in January. I suppose we now have to wait for them to gel.
The point is Holloways tactics don't work, he has to admit he's wrong and change them now before it's to late. If he's not willing to change he has to go.
How will relegation be taking us forward ? Look at Forest !!

He seems to have identified the problems but so far hasn't been unconvincing in solving them

We just have to keep Ollie this season. Any further changes would be catastrophic.
Not like when we got rid of Craig Levein then and we immediately turned into the in form team in the league.

If he takes us down, then keeping him would have proven to be catastrophic........

Such a gamble though, bringing yet another new man in at this stage could mean the same. I am more convinced in IH than a.n. other keeping us up this term. Who are the candidates? Newell? Dowie? Blackwell? Reid?

No ta.

But you could argue it's a gamble either way, alex

Candidates: Billy Davies, Iain Dowie and Sam Allardyce

Not forgetting the other Managers in various leagues that are at this moment successfully employed but don't like the current regime or working conditions in their present workplace.

New Managers don't have to be free agents, those against Manager change never bring that up when listing available Managers for their defense.

what about under Matt Gilles, we stayed in the top division longer than what MON kept us up there for

Another manager change this season would be suicidal. Best to keep with what we have got and grit our teeth

Big Sam would not come here. Fact.

Davies, perhaps, Dowie, poor.

With all of these you would need to take in to account the cost of paying off Ollie and his merry men too.

Just two matches ago we were amongst the form teams in this division. I think perhaps we're over reacting a little here.

Agreed and if we go down we probably fecking deserve it. 4 years on the trot we have this flirtation with it, in fact I'd be interested to see a table over them 4 seasons and see where we come. Always takes some April away win before we are out of the woods.

Balanced against the cost of relegation, that would be peanuts
