A fan of someone who believes the world is goverened by the invisble hand of a giant reptile from outer space? Not for me thanks.

I agree. I'm not a fan of his either. But that doesn't mean everything he says should automatically be dismissed.

For example this interview has zero to do with his wacky stuff. It's about the head of the WHO, the fact that we'll remember this pandemic more for the economic implications etc.

He's the boy who cried wolf, but this time he's got a genuine argument. Hopefully you can re-consider if not then have a good day.

So handshakes are out. I am pleased to say that it looks as if I will go through life without ever high-fiving anybody. And no I will not be doing the elbow bump. A slight nod or a cheery wave across my "social distance" will suffice

Apart from the fact that the whole interview is predicated on the concept that there is a cult controlling the whole world who are deliberately creating incidents like Covid19 as a pathway towards the end game of this cult directly controlling everybody’s thoughts and actions from a centralised digital platform

Righto....

I believe I will meet you in the middle and watch none of it.

The first 4 minutes 15 seconds are OK what with Icke just sitting there listening to the interviewer ... then Icke goes off on his usual one, though I suppose that it's now "cults" rather than "Rothschilds" might be seen as a step forward of sorts

controlling everybody’s thoughts and actions from a centralised digital platform

That part seems pretty plausible to be fair. If not already real.

Lizard people, not so much....though it might be the only logical explanation for Zuckerberg (he’s in a skin suit).

You sound like a biased news channel cherry-picking without context. There's a lot more to this interview than that - the economic ramifications of the virus, the way the elderly are treated, power and control etc.

I for one do believe that we are moving into an Orwellian type of state. You can do very little nowadays without leaving a trace. Huge corporations like Facebook control billions of peoples' conversations via WhatsApp, what you're doing through Instagram etc., Google knows what you want through search engines and where you're going through Google Maps, what you watch through Youtube. We are moving into a cashless society where institutions know every penny you spend with less and less cash being used all with the facade of being to combat major crime.

It's difficult to describe a "Cabal" without sounding delusional and I think this is why he refers to it as a sort of cult for lack of a better word. Do you not believe in any way that there might be some element of planning to this outbreak?

I certainly dont believe the reptilian crap. And I don't think it's a cult as he calls it, but we sure are moving to a world of control by a central power and in my opinion pandemics, crises etc are all a part of that.

I think giving credence to David Icke is akin to giving it to Boris Johnson at the moment.

Seeing his press conference last night I see a broken man, flanked by specialists embarrassed by having to support his statements. It has finally dawned on him that conning gullible millions with meaningless sounbites that they can adopt as a war cry does not work against an implacable enemy without eyes or ears. And yet he has no other tactic. For "Get Brexit done" read: get Covid-19 done, and "We will leave the EU by xxxx (insert appropriate date)"read: we will defeat Covid-19 in twelve weeks.

And then, at the end, he essentially says: But if we don',it will be your fault.

His "strategy" seems to be this:

Social distancing is important (correct)

Therefore people shouldn't go to pubs or restaurants, or travel around to much

But I'm not going to shut down pubs or restaurants, or curtail transport networks, because its your job to force them to close down by not going to them.

If you don't (because you are selfish young people who don't feel threatened by the virus) well that's not my fault.

And as to the severe shortage of ventillators (I could see the panic in Nick Hancock's eyes, despite his calm, reasonable tone), no matter, the machinery used for making car components and food mixers is perfect for making ventillators, and the essential components normally imported from Asian countries can be cobbled together from empty Fairy liquid bottles and toilet rolls, and some of the eight million economically unproductive people can be trained to operate them.

Honestly, I don't want to be so cynical, but I genuinely fear that the scale of the disaster facing the UK (and London in particular) is still being underestimated. Anybody who thinks I am exaggerating probably didn't see the report from an Italian Hospital on Newsnight last night.

Wrong comedian - not Tony, either, he died in 1968.

Report that a man has been arrested on the Isle of Man for failing to self isolate. The law there is that new arrivals on the island must self-isolate for 14 days.

As an employee of the government, my colleagues have spent the last few months being told that we're useless and unnecessary. We're too slow and inhibiting progress.

As we now observe these devotees of Dominic Cummings shit themselves, we step up to help support much of the infrastructure of the country. In full knowledge that the moment the storm abates, we'll be stamped on once again.

Ten years of squeezing has caused serious damage though. Mark my words, the next few weeks and months are going to be exceptionally tough. Not all the things that we all need to keep going will keep going.

The PM sent us a personal message of thanks this morning. A two minute ramble that you can hear without listening to it. But you know who I blame for this more than anyone? The ****ing idiots that highjacked the opposition meaning that there really was no choice at the last election. Deranged idealistic left wing dreamers that left the country with no option but to choose this awful mob.

When I watch our PM mumbling inadequacies a time of national crisis, fully aware of how fragile we are, I can only trust in the very people their society has chosen to undervalue: NHS staff, delivery drivers, civil servants, care home workers, supermarket workers, cleaners, council employees, etc.

Fantastic post. Really, truly fantastic.

Why is no one giving this man kudos? Because his reputation proceeds him, they think he's a nut case (understandably) in part because of half the crap he's been spouting over the years, but this IMO makes a lot of sense:
There's a big panic and shutting down the country when so few people are actually going to be hugely affected by COVID-19 and in turn destroying all of our infrastructure is the wrong move IMO.
There might be something greater to the matter than meets the eye which people should consider as a possibility without dismissing it as radical or some sort of "conspiracy theory."
But each to their own, I can't dissuade people from listening or watching anything other than what their own opinion stands by.

What the **** are you on about ?

Over 11,000 have died already, and the toll in the UK is going to soar over the next few weeks if we don’t minimise social interaction immediately. We may well have dithered around for too long already.

I work in the NHS and it’s about to ****ing collapse into an absolute war zone if we don’t slow down the spread of this thing right now

Italy is in absolute ****ing meltdown, having lost 4,000 people already, and Spain is not far behind them. If we don’t get this right we’ll be in a worse position in two weeks time

It’s complete ****s lime Icke, and the head-in-the-sand wankers merrily ignoring all expert medical advice, who are the real threat here, not some fake ****ing cult controlling and directing the world

Absolute ****ing bollocks, of the very highest order

To be fair to you, at times when stress and anxiety increases, it is quite normal to look for alternative explanations. If you feel that reality is no longer within your control, our brains seem to seek out a coping mechanism. It is why so many people turn to religion at difficult times in their life.

So, I'm not going to ridicule your search for answers. What appears to happen is that when someone dismisses someone that thinks this way, they just entrench themselves even further into that world. I wouldn't want to encourage you to do this.

People like Icke and faith healers and evangelists and alternative therapy gurus and clairvoyants all prey upon that same human weakness that we all share. In the world of social media, this stuff is so easily accessible and easy to fall for.

I think you're misguided and doing yourself no favours. It is much better to take a quiet moment to yourself and accept what is happening and that there is very little you can do about it except to protect yourself and others. There is no grand conspiracy.

Someone got infected from a bat in China and spread it to others, who spread it to others, and so on. Such a method is actually pretty common and really not that unusual or unexpected. It's a very dangerous infection for anyone with a weakened immune system or existing lung or heart issues.

It could be worse though. Some very smart people are saying that this is a very effective dress rehearsal for a more serious infection that could easily occur if we don't shut down the opportunities for it to develop and spend more on effective management of infections. If you want something worthwhile to focus on, focus on that.

Well that’s my normality over. The school has closed its doors amidst much confusion and uncertainty. Not least of all when we reopen. Most of our staff have gone home for an indefinite period. We are expecting some students in next week .. the kids of key workers, vulnerable, EHCP etc. That could be 20 or 120. We don’t know. I run the IT support at the school and will need to support those in school and at home so I will be back at work as normal next week. We’re not looking any further as the goalposts are constantly shifting. Maybe next week might be my last for a while. Who knows.

Spot on.

I like Sunak, possibly because he's the only one talking in some sense. I can't like the scientist guy, I forget his name, because his constant smug grin couple with his inept refusal to accept world advice has cost lives.

The shambles of schools closures has directly impacted on my family with most of them being teachers. It's gone from a small group of key workers to anybody who once had a hot dinner with one. It's easier to qualify as a key worker than it is to get in the Scottish national team. At my old school they're expect over 60 out of 300 children in. What's the point?

To allow key services to continue?
