My opinion is Stringer is that he is quite happy to get anything he can against Pearson. This is because Pearson is very protective of allowing any journalist access to the training ground etc. You may laugh but there are footballing spies! AVB was Mourinho's spy at Chelsea who was once found crawling in a bush. Man City recently built a massive wall to avoid cameras from taking pictures at their training ground (the various pics of Ballotelli kicking off were annoying the club).
For Stringer, journalism is hanging around the training ground for four days week trying to find a story. He feels the club owe him (and the people) a story every day. His research and contacts are through twitter (where as most print journalists can count on various colleagues up and down the country). The comments regarding Beckford are probably what a player said in passing like ''Becks was with the Under 21s today''.
