At the end of the last term neither of my two boys received any educational classes on the last three days of term they were told to bring something in to do/play with or watch DVD's.

My eldest said his form teacher spent hours on his mobile organising a last minute holiday.

I consider the schoold to be good and its OFSTED reports are excellent, but end of term week seems to be a real wind down time for them.

I have a set number of days annual leave but I have to fit in with many others and take it when it the company approves it - we try and work together and share it out but there have been occasions when I could not have any holiday in July or August. I will avoid taking them out school if I can, but I will if I have to.

End of term is not such a distruption, as you mention most classes wind down for the last week. However it is when they return to school (there are 6 people this week in my missues classes that won't return until next week) that it causes disruption. Not only will they have to catch up on the new work she will have to make sure they get all their exercise books, text books etc and it means she has to work extra hours because of it (I don't want to get into the old "teachers only work 9-3 anyway" argument).

Presumably these are the days that they fly away on their own holidays.

As you don't have a big family that easy for you to say :icon_roll:icon_roll:icon_roll

a normal family holiday for us is anywhere from 5k-6k

anyway we do what we do and don't give a **** if you ,bg,melts ,spion dont like it
Six of us used to go away for a fortnight, half board in the Med., at the start of the main school holidays for around £2k

I wish I had a job that paid as well as yours obviously does to afford such lavish holidays.

I reiterate that there is absolutely no need to take children on holiday during term time citing the reason that it is cheaper to do so.

Prove it !!!

Never said that now did i

whooooosh!

plus you OAP'S can have a holiday when you feel like it :icon_bigg :icon_wink

Sadly I will not be an OAP for a good few years yet, although my free bus travel, Senior Railcard and cheaper seats at the Walkers are not so far away.

I would have thought though, Newts, that somebody with your history would have more regard for somebody who has lost his job and career on the grounds of ill-health. Didn't the same thing happen to you?

Is that full board, half board or just bed and breakfast?
