He wouldn't necessarily get the extra money paid to him in wages - certainly not 2m. If he's done this you can be sure that he has a significant wage rise NOW which is guaranteed for a few years.

Who f**king cares about the behind the scenes bollocks? It's none of our business.

I'm sure we'll find out if he's staying in due course.

BUT... that kind of contract offers nothing to Leicester so there would be no point in us agreeing to it.

........only that the player is with us till the end of the season & would leave for an agreed fee, whereas he could leave next month for on a tribuneral and we lose his goal contribution for the anticipated 'promotion run-in'.

As others have rightly pointed out, Fryatt holds the cards.

:018: He can only leave for an agreed fee next month not via a tribunal. The tribunal would be at the end of the season.

Thanks for that.

The 'tribunal' fee would be at the end, as you say, but would apply as of next month - if he was to walk away then.

But it's our choice if we sold him next month, we don't have to. So we could keep his "goal contribution" regardless of whether he signs a contract or not.

He is under contract and cannot just walk out until it finishes... Usually July the 1st. He isn't even allowed to negotiate with any other club (in England) until 4/6 weeks before that date.

Yes it would be a benefit to us should we have a set fee. But he wouldn't sign if it was more than say 500k, because it's taking money out of his pocket... and we wouldn't agree if it was less because the tribunal would be around that kind of fee, rendering the contract almost pointless for the club.

I think we're saying the same thing, but just in a different way.

I've read reports that say FIFA scrapped that rule a few years ago and players can sign pre-contract agreements at any time, even if they have several years left on their current contract.

Well I you could... but I had 4 or 5 people telling me I was wrong so I just decided to go with the masses. :icon_bigg

Lets hope that the new deal focuses around a goal bonus rather than a straight wage! Knowing our lot i'm sure that won't be the case...

RL are saying that WBA have offered four million for Fryatt. :102:

Tony Mowbray also saying that it would be too much of a step up.

didn't score today - get rid.
