Re: Matty Fryatt

A racist chant is conducive to a bad atmosphere - one that can lead to violence.

Why would somebody who claims to be 'not racist' want to give vent to any utterance which would tend to give succour to real racists?

Re: Matty Fryatt

I stand corrected by the spokesman for the Newspeak Committee.

The word 'good' can be used with reference to things which we don't agree with. A good fight. A good beating. A good example of a stupid person. A bad atmosphere could be construed as what you described, it could also be an absence of an atmosphere. A good atmosphere might also be a nice philanthropic one where everyone shares herbal jazz cigarettes and tells each other how great they are (which is what I think goes on between most of the people on here most of the time), but most people would class a good atmosphere as being a raucous, lively one. Regardless of the exact moral content of the noise being made.

Hence most people would agree that the atmosphere at the San Siro - where there is racism, which we all agree is a bad thing - is better than the atmosphere at the Walkers. And somewhere beneath it all, at some point, you'll hear things of a racist nature as well as things of a benevolent nature all adding to it. Sorry if that hurts.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Could I also add that regardless of what you think of people where I come from, that Matty Fryatt and I were both born in the same hospital.

That's no accolade for either of you.

Re: Matty Fryatt

I've got in my head right now is of a grunting horde of atavistic savages all yelling 'racist' without actually knowing why.

I don't believe anyone has called you a racist. But I'm a fool so I must be wrong

Re: Matty Fryatt

I've skim read most of this post....

But.... is Fryatt on bad form because he's a closet xenophobe, and finds racist chanting a turn on? And when he's horny he can play well, but if it's quiet then he can't?

Interesting.

Re: Matty Fryatt

I've never met any of you but the image I've got in my head right now is of a grunting horde of atavistic savages all yelling 'racist' without actually knowing why.

Seriously, that is a ****ing train-wreck of a sentence. It just doesn't work, on any level.

Re: Matty Fryatt

Syd's very first post
While I'd prefer the idea of Ling or Grayson, GS might be the perfect tutor for a man like Gerry Taggart to come up through the ranks.

That said, if we're going for experience and willing to delve deep into the distance achievements of veteran managers we'll find plenty of accolades to Peter Reid's name as well - popular Man City manager who was unfairly sacked, success in this league and the Premier with Sunderland, a couple of 'poisoned chalices' at Leeds and Cov. What, specifically, makes someone like Souness a much better candidate than someone like Reid?

He just loves to debate matters and
Homer on Syd
I can read plenty in one sitting, thank you - but it is the boring, groundless repetitive drivel that you seem intent on spouting that is making me yawn

Syd on Homer
Just wondering whether Homer's primary occupation on this forum is to complain about people who post things that he's too lazy to read / stupid to understand.

The article, or post, or whatever you want to call it, made sense. It pinpoints one or two interesting trends. Take it or leave it, but I'd prefer it if you didn't bully people who've offered interesting observations on our club.

Just because you write 100 line-long messages instead of one 100 line-long message doesn't make your viewpoints any more valid or interesting.

Syd also thinks Homer has the linguistic capacity of an apricot and blames him for people not joining Talkingballs cos of comments.
You clearly missed the point, not to mention the irony, in my previous post. I'll try to keep my reply simple and thoroughly un-intellectual just for you.

My whole point, dear boy, is that as a forum we might gain more from welcoming, exploring and discussing viewpoints rather than simply crushing them because you have
(a) heard them somewhere before
or (b) rendered yourself incapable of reading them because, I don't know, you've dropped one too many lavender tablets or whatever other excuse you might have.

You'd be surprised how many people out there in the big wide world (or, more to the point, Leicestershire) are well aware that this forum exists but choose not to contribute simply because someone with the linguistic capacity of an apricot has told them to get lost or shut up. For my part I genuinely couldn't care less, but if you'd like to continue justifying your reasons for being Middle England's answer to Josef Goebbels then I'll read on with boundless pleasure

Re: Matty Fryatt

No you didn't. you said a racist chant was conducive to creating an atmosphere.

I viewed this thread impartially and have nothing against you or anyone else who has posted here, however you seem to have forgotten what you posted last night.
Can i suggest that you go back and read your posts.

I don't believe anyone has called you a racist. But I'm a fool so I must be wrong

Exactly

(not the bit about you being a fool :icon_wink)

Whilst watching his performance on saturday i seriously thought he twatted the ball out of play twice just for the hell of it as nobody could do that twice accidentally :icon_lol:

Re: Matty Fryatt

And I don't believe I brought up the word 'Paki' in the first place, did I?

No you didn't, I did, and I make no apologies for it as I was reminding you of the sort of chant that you suggested would make for a better atmosphere.

You really are strange at best or downright sinister at worst - I can't really decide which.

You still have my vote for **** of the year though.

Yep. Im not sure even in the snow any pro footballer could make 2 passes that poorly. Just looked like he had put some pudding on again, back to his old championship ways if you ask me.

Don't fall for it Spion, it's a deliberate ploy to achieve exactly this

Re: Matty Fryatt

slaughtering elephants can be conducive to a good piano concerto

I believe it was originally scored in the Rach 2, but Sergei revised the score because the conductor kept slipping on the blood.
