gotta be before jan tho if you want the new manager to bring his own players in, why let an outgoing manager have a transfer window?
Still here in January.

Because he can hold the fort until the end of the season. Whatever happens with the takeover, there will be little or no transfer kitty for January, so any deals done will just be loans, RL said today that we can sign loan players until the end of the 1st week in Feb. That will give us a chance to play out the rest of the season, avoid relegation and then clear the way for a new manager to come in for pre-season and look at building a team capable of challenging for promotion next year.
Unfortunately i think a couple more bad results and we are approaching a Levein type situation when action needs to be be taken because the risk of relegation is so great.
And I think that looking at the teams that we have coming up, those defeats may well come sooner, rather than later. I don't see us getting too many points from Birmingham, Colchester, or Cardiff. (Forget Fulham, we're not in a position to be messing around with cup competitions)
Why not, for a change, play with 3 centre backs, 2 wingbacks and see how the opposition cope with that. Play to our strengths instead of worrying about others - IMO it's got to be worth a go.
The problem I see with that, is that no-one seems to want to stay out wide, yesterday the whole of the midfield was trying to play through the centre circle. That's how Sunderland managed to create so many chances, they had all the room they wanted out on the flanks with nobody there to close them down.
I agree. The awful thing was that RK did not do anything to sort out the problem. However, whatever the tactics, our lads did not look interested. That's the real disappointment.
You've only left 3 of themAs for the rest of them,
So perhaps we ought to get the reserve matches back again, playing in the reserves in front of 400 people surely has to make you want to fight to get/keep your first team spot, and a manager that can put some nouse and creativity back into the midfiled.
(Answers on the back of a £5 note please)
The reserve probelm is no fault of City's. The FA Premier League decided on a change of teams in the reserve leagues, if you are out of the PL for so many yrs they drop you. We were dropped at the expense of Reading or Watford. The Pontins League, the other option is a very Northern-decidated League. City with their small squad didnt want the probelm having a game on a Tuesday at Cardiff and the subs for this game being needed at Sunderland on the Wednesday or it could work viceversa.
The probelm could be solved with easy admin work, Cov, Derby were also dropped and Forest were not so long back. So why dont set up a Midlands League and leave it open to all Midlands teams. Although, Notts County, Mansfield will not be the same quality, they would have less distance to travel and the added bonus of games against say Forest providing money and a decentish crowd.
I agree we do need some sort of reserve team, I mean, Kenton, Weso, Chris and Danny C were all threw into the action with no footie for months, they would have been a bit more match fir with some match action behind them, therefore not looking so knackered as Kenton ET al did.. Thats one reason we lost the game.
The more I think of the broader picture, the more the blame doesnt lie with RK. He's working reasonable in extremely difficult conditions and we will only see the true management skills of him if he gets money to improve the squad, the players he wants. I personally believe we could have let go of one of our defenders and then invested in 3 players with the money. But hopefully, we play out the season without any trouble of relegation and then allow either Kelly a new start or a new man an opening beginning with a new season beckoning.

Regarding RK... given the restrictions he has been working under, if he were a bad manager we would be in the bottom three. It does seem to me that one or two bad performances have a lot of people screaming that he is not up to the job. My two cents are that he kept us up last season (if the buck stops with the manager, he has to get the credit for that), and that overall this season we are a shade better than last. Not much fun, but could be a lot worse. Yes, it could be better too. But I would just say - if you were a bright, in-demand manager, would you be keen to come to a club that gives managers two half-seasons to effect a dramatic improvement with minimal resources?

we only need 23 more points from 19 games to pass last years total which despite the way we are playing we will proberbly do would this be classed as an imporvement on last term?
