You really are starting to make yourself appear idiotic f_o.

So God is a Christian is he? Not a Muslim or a Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Jainist, Spiritualist, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jedi etc etc

God is God. The God of Israel and the father of Jesus Christ. What did you expect me to say, I'm a Christian!!! :icon_conf

Okay, I'll explain it like this. Jesus was sent because there was no other way to save any of us. Everyone had sinned (disobeyed God). Therefore everyone had to die. Unless there was a sacrifice for those sins. That's where Jesus comes in. He's the equivalent of the old testament sin offering. For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son...

Absolute regurgitated nonsensical bollocks.

Why would your God be so insecure & capricious as to demand that?

You really need to do your homework f_o, NONE of the Gospels are contemporary & they all contradict each other.

There is no evidence for the existence of Jesus outside of the non-contemporary, made up for political reasons Gospels. Strange considering the Romans were an accomplished bureaucracy.

The dead sea scrolls contained significant evidence of Jesus' existence. But it's only been 2007 years. It's a lot more contemporary than some other faiths. Except Bigfoot of course.

That is different from person to person, a lot of people believe God won't send those people you are talking about to hell since they haven't had the chance to use their free will - to choose: God or no God. :icon_wink

The new testament is full of quotes from the old testament, so why do people think they can disregard the old testament and just believe in the new one?

And even though most of the really evil things that god does are in the old testament, there are plenty of examples in the new testament.

If you're going to pick and choose the bits of the bible you want to believe in, how do you know the bits you're choosing to believe in are the right bits?
All the bits about stoning to death might be what god really wants. How do you know he doesn't?

Isn't that what religion is all about? Muslims believe in their God, Hindus in their etc etc.

I was responding to foxin_oz's contention that God is displaying his awesome power in the modern age by smiting anybody who dares critisise Christians, a wave in Indonesia for ****sake!

AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Because I guess he was hoping that we'd all obey the ten commandments but surprise, surprise, we didn't. HAVING GIVEN THE LAW He was then bound to execute judgement.

God is a spirit not 1 person. Anyone who believes in God would know this. Jesus was a form of God. (unless of course you don't believe in God or Jesus)

No they didn't, they were not contemporary with the supposed life of Jesus & only support my contention that the New Testament was a political device by the fact they were omitted from the New Testament.

You really need to try harder than that.

They weren't criticising them, they were slaughtering them. And yes, it was God's way of paying them back. Laugh all you like but the truth is out there if you'd just look for it. You won't find it in the bottom of a bottle though. :tumbleweed:

I've broken all of the ten commandments, why hasn't he smited me?

The dead sea scrolls were only unearthed in recent years. The bible was already out there. What did you want them to do?

Seems to me that Christians worship the incredible shrinking god.

I mean at one time it was supposedly capable of flinging thousands of billions of galaxies into existence with a mere thought.

By the time of Noah, it was reduced to flooding an insignificant speck in the cosmos.

By the time of Moses, its best trick was moving a tiny portion of a minor sea aside for a short while.

By the time of Jesus, it has to send a delegate on its behalf who leaves behind only rumors that he was able to turn water into another beverage, or render himself extra buoyant.

Now it counts as a miracle if a water stain grows mold that kind of looks like a bearded face which could be claimed to resemble this supposed delegate.
How much more pathetic can this god get?
How do Christians manage to sing praises of its glory and greatness without feeling like fools--or at best, like new parents gushing over their toddler's ability to make a pee. -- Kronk
