In Holloway's Defense.....

75 posts into this thread and there still isn't a sound "on the pitch/in the squad" reason why Holloway should stay.

That's cos there isn't one.

Nobody can defend the results, or the performances.

Looking at this season as a whole, he has got to be the worst of the three managers. I hate Megson, but we would not go down with him in charge, the football would be shite, but we would be able to grind out results that could keep us up. It is thanks to him we have a good defence, without which we would be doing a Derby.

Allen didn't have enough time matches wise to give us a decent indication of what he would have been like, so it would be unfair to class him the worst of the three.

Of the team that played yesterday I think there was 2 summer signings in the 16 (DJ and Bruno), the rest were all either signed by Holloway or there already. So at the very least this team has been together since January, and if anything has got worse.

The blame for that has to go to Holloway.

Holloway's points per game record is still better than Megson's.

But Megson didn't spend a farthing and I've watched his Bolton side and one thing they do is battle, our lot just rollover and die.I don't like Megson but at least his terams have some pride and passion

But I don't believe we would have lost 1-0 at Southampton, or 3-1 yesterday, or even drawn at home to Colchester, if he was the manager.

Even if we played 8 defenders, and drew those three games 0-0, we have 2 more points, and Southampton and Wednesday have 2 less each.

For most of the matches we had under Megson I didn't see much pride and passion.

If we had continued to play the negative football we had under Megson I don't think we'd have been any better off than we are now.

I think all MM's managerial appointments since Worthington have been poor, and that's not in hindsight, I said so at the time.

I don't think any business could suceed with that attitude.

What you seem to be saying is that we have to put up with a loser because we couldn't find a winner anyway.

No, I am saying that we have to be realistic. We may love Leicester, but to someone outside, we are a team that has struggled to maintain Championship football for four seasons. Holloway is a good standard for a team in that position and, to repeat myself, I believe that any change should be a move forward, not change for changes sake and the whole process repeating ad infinitum.

Fair enough but what are Hollways qualities. You say he is a good standard of Manager for us so what attributes make him of that standard ?
Other than some decent signings I can't see anything else that makes him a good standard of Manager

And as Martin Allen said at his press conference, if his auntie had bollocks she'd be his uncle!

Why do people debate on where we may or may not be under Megson, or any other past manager for that matter.

Fact is we are where we are, in the shit with one game left in the season and actually, it is in Southamptons hands whether we stay up or not as if they win their last two we are ****ed anyway!

I still actually think Holloway can do a job for us longer term, whichever league we are in next season. What I will say, is that if Holloway is sacked, he will return to football very quickly and I guarantee you he will do what Levein did and prove his worth with another team.

We in the meantime will have gone for a manager with a wealth of experience (Peter Reid) who will last probably 3 months, before the revolving LCFC management door starts again and continues the cycle we have proved to be so damaging to our football club over the last 4 seasons.

Hooray - I can't wait for next season.

Right, I'm obviously missing something here. I've been asking the question since January and I still haven't had a satisfactory answer. So I'll ask it in a different format.

Why should Ian Holloway be our Manager for the 2008/2009 season?

Now I'm not asking for the what he did at Plymouth answer, because I can give examples of other clubs he's managed to counterbalance that one, and he isn't the Plymouth Manager. Nor am I asking about not sacking another Manager, because stability is only worth having when you're in a league position worthy of being stable in.

So, based on what he's achieved so far in his tenure at Leicester City, why should Ian Holloway be the Manager for the 2008/2009 season?

Educate me, please!!!!

He is able to make interesting shapes and formations with his hands when he is explaining his tactics to players as they come to the sidelines for instructions. :icon_wink

we were doing that yesterday with one and two fingers.

Based on us beating Stoke, dream on Jeffry!

Do you not think your beloved IH can get us to beat Stoke then?

Any result is possible in this league, I would not discount us winning there.
We have to go there believing we can win because a draw might not be good enough. A win might not be good enough either, depending on tomorrow's result, but I think it will probably see us safe.

This team have failed to deliver in front of big expectant crowds at home, it's probably a good thing that the last match is away.

If we have a Manager that you consider to be a good Manager, why do you think we are incapable of beating Stoke?

Thats the best come back post at a Holloway lover I have seen Melts......:038::038::038::038:

I think that but we will still lose and lose heavily IMO.It will come down to determination, courage and spirit and we have none of them three

Because my issue lies with the attitude of the players and not one of them shows any pride, passion or committment in a Leicester Shirt.

If Holloway cannot even get the players to show some spirit and fight, then yes I fear we will not beat Stoke.

It saddens me to look at teams like Stoke, Bristol City and Hull, all teams who we used to be able to beat with ease, who all now seem so much better than us.

Oh yes I remember now that is Ian Holloways fault isn't it - in that case Holloway out! Holloway out! Peter Reid in Peter Reid in.
