I'd be worried about what Apple's future plans are and how they can control what you do in 5 years with phones and their contracts, the same as they have done with itunes and pods

Forget the Apple shit, invest in a HTC touch - ran by Windows.

Fecking excellent phone.

Might be OK as long as you don't expect to get a decent internet connection speed on it, it's not even 3G compatible, which is unbelievable when the networks are rolling out broadband speed services.
Maybe they expect people to only use it for the internet where there's wifi available.

Possibly, you get free access to the cloud wifi network with 7500 hot spots in the UK. The speed is considerably quicker than a standard gprs connection but I agree its disappointing its not 3g although I wouldnt miss the battery draining aspects of 3g.

I'm gonna wait until they release better models, for now, I am much happier with my k850i and iPod. IMO, they need to bring out at a 20GB+ model, but they won't as that would mean people would only buy the iPhone instead of an iPhone and an iPod.

No 3G, can't forward messages, can't send a message to more than one person at a time. A case of style over functionality again.

I see your point but I got rid of my 3G mobile as it was a total drain on power and not really of any use to me so that part doesnt bother me. The sms limitations arent a concern to me either and in truth will probably be recitified short term with s/ware upgrades.

It's not perfect, but it is a joy to use. Don't forget Apple have said they will be updating the iPhone continually. So I expect that most of the issues with the text message options that SJN mentions will be overcome or third parties will develop apps to get round it. The iPhone v1 was developed predominantly for the US market which I believe is somewhat behind in the text message culture.
