His family were based in the north-west, weren't they? Adams didn't care where any of his players lived.Fox Fan said:If i remember correctly, and I think I do MA said that we had offered to match Blackburns offer to Dickov. If that was indeed the case then how was it better for his family to uproot them and move them a 100 miles north?
And at the time we were favorites to win the leauge aswell. Makes you wonder...

I was just going on what the Birch was saying a couple of days ago on 106 when they mentioned him signing for Man City again, when he said family he must have meant parentslako42 said:no dickov lived in leicestershire, his kids went to gracedui manor with my cousins, my aunti and uncle went round their house quite a bit.

Redditch Fox said:I imagine at the age of 30 plus, he wanted to play at the highest level he could and Blackburn offered a certain opportunity of playing in the premiership. In that sense it was a better deal for him.
Likewise, he didn't fancy another gamble on City getting promotion....irrespective of whether we were one of the favourites.
From the above and about every other perspective, he made a wise (from his viewpoint) choice.
He only had himself to blame though.Naughty Fox said:Alot of sh*t was thrown with the La Manga stuff and some did stick to Dickov (no puns please) so up rooting and starting again would also have been a factor.
You're quoting all the old classics tonight SilverSilverFox said:I think that Stuart Pearce had a lucky start as man city manager. It was just a case of send in the clowns. The novelty has worn off and he has played the 'dissapointed' with the lads card in the dressing room too many times now. He'll amount to nothing, as will man city next season if they continue signing past it players. Dickov is not a player that a club with big time ambitions signs.
They'll fail together.

Redditch Fox said:Ultimately, yes...but it was stupid of the club to take that bunch to La Manga and still more stupid not to keep them on a tight leash once there.
That said Mickey coped with the after the event situation with some distinction, in my opinion.
LeeH said:Agree. It's a sad state of affairs when a bunch of grown men need to be supervised.
