I agree. Micky did really well throughout the whole ordeal. IMO it was the club's fault, as you say, for not ensuring that the players were behaving properly. Micky must take some blame as well, but the club deserve the most of the blame for it.

What do you mean when you say i"it was the club's fault"? Disregarding any contention whether individuals should be responsible for their own actions, I don't think you can blame 'the club' without being specific about who you think should have been responsible.

'The Club' is just something that is written down on paper - it is nothing and nobody in itself - and has to rely on its officials and servants to act for it. So who specifically do you feel was to balme?

My perspective is that it was clearly very unwise to take a bunch of players that included social liabilities as demonstrated on the previous excursions to La Manga and Scandinavia.

La Manga resort - which I know very well - is a regular oasis for football clubs because of its facilities and also the excellent climate ( which I enjoy a lot i might say) but it is also a major attraction for jollies. Everybody knows that. I anticipated trouble...tho' not on the scale and fall out that happend.

IMO it was a misjudgement by Mickey to take them there and not the best stewardship by the directors and senior club officials to authorise and endorse and fund the trip. In that context the blame was collective rather than at the door of one individual.

Of course, we all understand that individuals should have been 'professional' and ensured that they could not become 'victims'.....but given the track record of previous jaunts I think it was asking a lot to believe that all would be OK.
