Does anyone else keep thinking the report post button is the Charlton badge when they glance it.

Fourth centre back signing, at least we won't have a team of only right backs this year...
Hobbs is promising indeed though.

Gilbert on the right, and Chambers at left back

And five feckin' centre halves sat on the bench

Relegation fodder, if you ask me

I'm thinking maybe N'Gotty will be back up for Gilbert at right back, with Chambers and Mattock (or his replacement) covering the left. That would then give us Hobbs and Tunchev starters with Worley and Morrison as back up.

On the right we have we have Gradel and Adams. On the left we have Dyer and Porter. Centrally we have Clemence and Oakley, with Wesolowski and King in reserve. We can also throw Kishishev into that Mix. Upfront we have Howard and DJ, with Fryatt, Chambers, Hayles in reserve.

That's a decent squad for this division. I've left out Kisnorbo completely because who knows when he'll be back. We will still probably ship out 3/4 of these and they will be replaced.

I can't believe you think that team is worse than 20 others in league 1.

They seem to have caught the same doom and gloom bug I'm afflicted with, although it appears they are in the advanced stages...rub some Dettol on it, it's the only cure.

I notice a touch of desparation creeping in: at the end of last season, one of the daft things which proved the need for Holloway to be replaced, was the ridiculous signing of Howard; who, was perceived as an over the hill donkey, unlikely to score half a dozen goals in a season. Now, he is down for 20+ goals and, in my mind, even more inconceivablly, DJ is being touted as a strike partner.
Unless some of the young strikers (Sappleton, Ashley Chambers or Odihambo) make the grade, I fail to see where the push will come.

In fairness we have come back to their level, as many predicted last season. :icon_wink :icon_conf

Hobbs is good from the admittedly limited amount I've seen him in the past. Big guy though.

In terms of the "how good is our squad" argument... was having the discussion with someone from work today asking how I fancied us this year... I'm a bit worried because the defence was our best part last season, and yet most of them have left. Our strikers were all shit, but we still lost the best one, and havn't got anyone new! But, I think the midfield is looking a lot better... there seems to be quite a good balance in there, with different options.
Hobbs and Tunchev should be a decent centre back pairing, and I think we've got 2 good right backs in Chambers and Gilbert... left back could be a worry though if/when Mattock goes.
Upfront is definetely our most worrying area for me though still, and I would like to see a new striker come in.

And, I once had a Worley/Hobbs centre back partnership for Leicester on footy manager and they dominated, so clearly it's the way to go ;)

Can't let these comments go by without a :icon_lol:

Exactly what I thought when we signed him, would he be able to get the hundreds required?

Thank you H

It does tend to be pearls before swine on here at times :icon_bigg

Two of my mates support the scousers and think this is a good signing for us, they have been impressed with him.

Although Arsenal fans said the same about Ryan Smith......

Im sure hes a decent player but does it mean NP has little confidence in Morrison and Worley or is Bruno going?

Having seen Morrison & Worely play on Tuesday night i would say neither is ready to be a starter at the moment. So i see Hobb's being brought in as as NP acknowledging that as well. Paddy K is still recovering so we have to disregard him at this time. So really we only have 3 suitable Centre halves at this moment.

Imgine how much more money N'Gotty is touted to be on, as back up to someone who won't be earning more i assume. its a ****ing joke that the donkey was ever signed, and a two year contract is ridiculous. the signing of hobbs is yet another signing i have yawned at this preseason, nothing i've seen so far leads me to think next season will be a positive one

But you are saying Pearson and Co are better than Holloway and Co..where is your evidence? Is that not daft to say ?

pearson was a great success in his only other real management job, got carlisle to finish second bottom of the entire football league.......****ing excellent eh
